Year One Weekly Update Date
Year One Weekly Update Date: 23rd February 2018 In English we have begun to look at our new core text ‘The Snail and the Whale’ by Julia Donaldson. The children have spent time discussing how the characters would feel, inferring meaning and predicting what would happen next. In Maths we have practising counting in 2s, 5s and 10s with lots of practical resources and then applying this knowledge to reasoning and problem solving questions. In our Japanese lesson this week we had great fun making origami swans.
In Geography we have been learning about Continents and Oceans and how to locate them on a world map. In R.E. we have started to learn about Judaism and for Science we have been looking at different types of trees. As part of the Unicef Outright campaign we have also been looking at where we belong and drawing family trees of all the important people in our lives. We are so excited about our visit to the aquarium on Monday and look forward to sharing pictures and writing about our day out next week.
