Parent-Teacher Conferences/Book Fair Parent-Teacher conferences will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2016. Conferences will begin at 3:30 PM and end at 7:30 PM. Parents are also invited to attend the Free Book Fair that will be taking place in the library beginning at 4:00 PM and ending whenever they run out of books. School will not be in session on Friday, March 18th.
Parents of science fair winners need to pick up their science fair projects (show boards, notebooks, and reports) during the conference time. If parents are unable to be there Thursday evening, please make arrangements to pick up the projects earlier.
Spring Break Hope Public Schools will be closed from March 21st-25th for Spring Break. We wish all students and staff a safe, fun, and enjoyable spring break.

Science Fair The following students will be representing Yerger Middle School at the Southwest Arkansas Regional Science Fair at Southern Arkansas University on Friday, March 18, 2016: Darton Davis, Lance Patton, John Jones, Dabria Manton, and Charitie Phillips. The students will have the opportunity to visit several different exhibits during the competition. This year there will be a chemistry show, a physics show, and a wild life exhibits from Logoly State Park, an an aquarium from the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission. Students need to have their parents pick up their projects prior to the day of competition, as the school will be locked on that day.
Scoliosis and BMI Checks Hope Public School nurses screened 8th grade students for body mass index (BMI) and scoliosis at YMS on Monday, March 14th and Tuesday, March 15th.
Testing There has been a lot of testing happening at YMS lately. For example, all ESL students recently took the ELPA21, a computer-based exam that tests students reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in English. In addition, all YMS students recently participated in an infrastructure trial and then took an Interim ACT Aspire Literacy Test. The Interim Math test is scheduled for after Spring Break. Moreover, TLI testing has also occurred in 8th grade Math, 7th grade Pre-AP Math, and all Literacy classes in the past few weeks. Seventh grade Math is scheduled to take their next TLI test on April 1. Finally, a small group of FLBA students recently tested for competition in the following events: Business Letters, Desktop Publishing, Keyboarding Applications 1, and a three-minuted timed typing test. Several of those students will also take an on-line test component at a later date. With so much testing, spring break is needful for everyone.
