Position summary: The Youth & Family Ministries Director leads and develops a comprehensive ministry for young members (grades 4 - college) and families, while giving witness to the Gospel, providing distinctly Christian guidance for students and families, while being a model of the Christian life. The Director encourages students and families in developing their relationship with God, provides them with opportunities for growth, and supports them as they live their baptismal vocation. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Work collaboratively with staff, pastors, volunteers, families and students. Recruit, train & develop volunteers for ministries. Plan, develop, and implement all aspects of a balanced children’s, teen & young adult ministry in the areas of group building, worship, discipleship, mission, and outreach. Coordinate Sunday School curriculum for teens and young adults. Partner with the pastors and Minister of Vocation in the coordination and leading of the Confirmation program, which includes Confirmation Camp and weekend retreats. Participate in the planning and leading of an annual mission trip. Encourage members to participate in worship, education, and fellowship opportunities. Equip families to develop active discipleship in their homes. Establish strong communication lines with children & teens and their families at large; develop relationships with families and their children in support of relational ministry. Provide guidance for special events throughout the Zion community, and introduce opportunities for families within those events, as appropriate. Ensure the Child Protection Policy is observed in all settings. Other Responsibilities: Participate in weekly staff meetings and meetings of relevant ministry teams. Pursue continuing education. Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned. Worship with the people of Zion on weekends and midweek. Candidate qualifications: A living faith in Jesus Christ. Bachelor’s Degree Demonstrated experience with evidence of success in working with children, youth & families. Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to effectively organize, delegate and communicate across all levels. Excellent interpersonal skills for interaction with children, teens, young adults, leaders, parents.
