SUPPLEMENTARY PROGRAMME OF

SIGNALLING ARRANGEMENTS affecting the working of the line from SUNDAY, 2nd FEBRUARY, 1964

INTRODUCTI N O F COLOUR LIGHT SIGNALLING BETWEEN MANO S AND HEATON SOUTH AND BETWEEN MANORS AND SOUTH GOSFORTH

NEWCASTLE SIGNAL BOX EAST END EXTENSIONS SUNDAYS, 2nd and 9th FEBRUARY The signalling alterations involved w i l l take place i n tw o stages as outlined below. STAGE 1. M anor s t o Heaton South. STAGE 2. M anor s t o South Gosfor th. During t he progress o f each stage o f w or k, aspect testing w i l l take place and col our l i ght signals may display incorrect aspects, drivers must disregard indications and w or k t o instruction. STAGE 1. Between 7- 0 am and 7-0 pm, Sunday, 2nd February, the whole of the signals at Argyle Street, Ouseburn, Riverside and Heaton Station Signal Boxes will be disconnected and as wor k progresses will be connected up to Newcastle Signal Box. Between 7-0 am and 10-0 am all trains will be diverted or cancelled. Between 10- 0 am and 12- 0 noon, al l Passenger tr ai ns t o tr avel ov er t he U p and D ow n Tynemouth lines. Between 12- 0 noon and 7- 0 pm al l Passenger trains t o travel over the U p and D ow n N or th lines (formerly known as the Main lines). All fr ei ght trains and em pty stock trains to be diverted via Jesmond. Drivers w i l l be instr ucted as necessary at H eaton South i n t he U p Dir ection and Manors Platform i n the Down Direction. T he signalling will be as shown on the drawing attached to this notice. Alterations t o Signalling. The fol l ow i ng Signal Boxes w i l l be dispensed w i th and contr ol o f signalling transferred t o Newcastle Signal Box:— Argyle Str eet. R i v e r s i d e . Ouseburn. H e a t o n Station. Ar gyl e Street, Newcastle side of No. 18 Bridge between and controlling the connections to Cover Works Siding and Quayside Branch. The U p and D ow n M ain lines between H eaton South and Manors Junction w i l l be renamed Up and Down N or th lines respectively. Heaton Stati on. Alterations t o Signals.
