As part of their studies on the Coasts topic in Humanities, Year 8 will be going on a one day educational visit to Walton-on-the-Naze. As well as enjoying a day at the seaside, pupils will be developing necessary fieldwork skills by making observations which will then be used in a follow up activity during lessons. The dates of this visit are Wednesday 11 October (8KG and 8MR) and Thursday 12 October 2017 (8DR and 8HD). Your child will need to be at school by 7.45am for an 8.00am departure with the aim of arriving at Walton-on-the Naze by 10.30am. Once there we will spend the majority of our day on the beach, eating lunch at a picnic area on top of the cliff where there is a small gift shop for souvenirs. We aim to leave Walton-onthe-Naze at 3.00pm with an estimated 5.30pm return to Edward Peake. Your child will need to wear their normal school jumper and t-shirt but with old trousers. They will need an old pair of trainers or walking boots, which will get sandy. Depending on the weather, a coat/ hat/ gloves (it was very windy last year!) may also be needed. If your child takes travel medication they will need to bring it with them. They will need a disposable packed lunch with additional snacks and water. Your child can also, if they wish, bring £5 to spend in the shop at the education centre. We request a voluntary contribution of £14 per child. Please note that if insufficient payments are made, the visit may be cancelled. Payments can be made online through the school gateway or by cheque into the school office. Please make cheques payable to Edward Peake Middle School. All payments are due by Friday 29 September. Yours sincerely
