‘Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.’ Psalm 51:10. As we approach Lent this week, I wonder if we are prepared to once again walk with Jesus through the wilderness; I wonder if we are prepared to suffer with Jesus as we reflect on the love that God has for His broken world; I wonder if we are prepared to honestly reflect on our part in that brokenness. The amazing truth is that we will emerge from the wilderness rejoicing, as ‘the joy of salvation is restored to us.’ Psalm 51:12 Erica Roberts

During Lent Pancake Day! We will be having a pancake party on Tuesday 4 March, 5-7pm in the Centre Lounge. BYOT (bring your own topping) we will supply the pancakes. All welcome. Lent Lunches Please join us for a simple soup and bread lunch and a short reflection based on the question, 'What does Easter mean to me?' Wednesdays 12.30-1.30pm. Today at 9.15am will be a Holy Communion service so please take your children straight to their groups (9.059.15am). Parents of children in Crèche, Wobblers and Tumblers will need to collect them at 10.10am and return to the service.
(Discipleship group for children in Explorers) meets today, 2 March and for the next 4 weeks. See Sammy for more details.
Tower of Power Parents, the Tower of Power will be available during today's 9.15 service. Children are encouraged to use it as a space to sit and chat to Jesus, catch what he is saying to them, or just be quiet. Someone will be available to help them, you are welcome too.
The Ark Is meeting this Thursday 6 March at 10am in the church. Our group for little people and their grown ups will be singing, crafting and looking at how Samuel heard from God. We look forward to seeing you there.
Toiletries Shine are still collecting toiletries to give to the local women’s refuge, The Gate and Care homes on Mother’s Day. Please put donated toiletries in the box at the back of church. The deadline will be Sunday 23 March. Thank you!
Hungry Mums Meets this week 9.30-11am in the Upper Room for refreshments together followed by a Bible study for mums with a crèche provided.
Ash Wednesday Join us for an Ash Wednesday Holy Communion service this week 5 March at 9am or 7.30pm in Church.

To Mat, Eli & Zac Phipps on the safe arrival of Álister Ignacio, born 24 February weighing 4.7kg (10lb 6oz). Everyone is well.
The Students who are away this weekend at CYE, Chichester. Pray they meet with the Lord. Also for David Croad taking services at Braishfield and Timsbury this morning, and at Eastleigh on Wednesday morning.
Basics Bank Next Thursday 6 March at 7.30pm, on ITV, Tonight programme is focussing on The Working Poor and was filmed at Basics Bank in Southampton. Take a look.
Kingdom Theology Day Saturday 15 March at Christ Church, Winchester. A day for any Christians to look to go deeper in their faith. More details at www.wtctheology.org.uk
Women@8 Breakfast Saturday 22 March in the Church Centre 8-10am. All women are welcome. More details to follow.
Erica Roberts You are invited to join us for the Licensing of Erica to her new role of City Chaplain for Older People at 11am on Sunday 23 March. Bishop Jonathan will be joining us and there will be refreshments afterwards. Erica will continue to be part of our staff team here at Highfield.
Parish Deliveries 2-3 times a year we deliver leaflets to our parishioners informing them of our special services and events. We still have a few roads with no-one to deliver to, can you help? It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to pray for each household as we go around the parish. Either sign up on the form at the back of church or contact the Church Office.

Newcomer’s Tea If you are new to Highfield or would like to find out more about what we do, we would love to meet you. Please come along to our Newcomers Tea, Sunday 23 March at 112 Highfield Lane, 4.30-6pm. This is an open invitation and children are welcome. If you would like more information please speak to one of our Welcomers.
Prayer Course Following the success of the HTB Prayer Course on Tuesday evenings we will be canvassing opinion as to what the best time would be to run it again. If you have not received our email and would like to know more, please contact the Church Office.
Boxes On 30 March the Shine groups will be thinking about Joshua and the walls of Jericho. We would like to bring the story to life for the children, so, if you have any large cardboard boxes (shoe box size as a minimum), then please bring them on Sundays and hand them in to Sammy, Helen or Explorers team.
