2013 CLIFF EDGE SHIRAZ Winemaking note
Tasting note
The Cliff Edge Shiraz is 100% estate grown, showcasing the Shiraz vine’s affinity for the granite slopes of Mount Langi Ghiran.
Colour Deep purple.
The 2013 vintage was hot and dry – one of the driest on record. Extreme heat spikes in January and February led to advanced ripening, but thankfully the cooler conditions returned in March allowing fruit to develop its full range of flavours and complex phenolic structure. This wine includes a whole bunch maceration component which helps to build on the tannin, perfume and aromatic profiles. The 2013 Cliff Edge Shiraz is showing vibrant elegant fruit flavours, florals, and spice.
Aromas Blueberry, cherry and blackberry fruits are dominant with beautifully interwoven spice and pepper. Palate Abundant fruits and spices and silky tannins, a lovely touch of savouriness on the back palate and rounded off with a remarkable peppery finish. Cellar up to 10 years.
