THE SERIES: Kean leads, 34-17-3. The Cougars are 3-0-1 in the last four meetings. LAST MEETING: September 26, 2012 in Union, NJ. Kean won, 2-1. All the scoring came in the second half. Kean scored in the 67th and 77th minutes. NJCU made it a one-goal game with 9:33 remaining. In a defensive battle there were few shots with Kean outshooting NJCU, 12-10. LAST TIME OUT: On September 25, NJCU fell to Ramapo in two overtimes, 3-2. NJCU led 2-0 after a 20th minute RCNJ own goal and Tyler Krychkowski’s first collegiate points on a 35th minute goal. Ruben Morales made eight saves in the loss. RCNJ won it with 3:49 left in the second OT. SHOTS RINGING OUT: NJCU is 4-4 but with a little luck could be much better off this year. Case in point, NJCU has outshot its opponents in EVERY game this season, and has a 175-111 margin in shots this year. The Knights have outscored its opponents, 24-14. All four of NJCU’s losses have basically been one-goal games (2-0 loss to Brooklyn included a late empty net goal). NJCU has also put more shots on goal (71-55) overall. In all, 13 different players have scored for the Knights. COUGAR NOTES: Kean has played a very competitive schedule thus far, taking on both the current No. 1 (Ohio Wesleyan) and No. 2 (Rutgers-Camden) ranked teams this year. Kean lost at OWU, 6-0, on August 31 when the Bishops were 21st. Then #3/3 Camden edged Kean on Saturday, 2-1. Kean owns a road win over then #14 Haverford. Kean has outscored opponents, 26-17 on the year and outshot them, 189-119.
