THE SERIES: WPUNJ leads, 16-2. LAST MEETING: September 15, 2012 in Wayne, NJ. WPU won, 5-1. Five different players scored for the Pioneers, which outshot NJCU, 26-9, including 20-4 in shots on goal. The Pioneers were whistled for 17 offsides. Brittany Hoffman made 14 saves for NJCU. LAST TIME OUT: On September 14, NJCU and SUNY Old Westbury played more than 105 minutes of scoreless soccer before an on unlucky rebound of an OW shot off the crossbar ended the contest, 1-0, in double overtime. Hoffman made three saves in the first half. Cassie Lubonski stopped eight saves in the final 60:13, including six in the second half. 90 AIN’T ENOUGH: NJCU has played back-to-back double overtime games, tying Staten Island—a team it had previously lost to—before falling to Old Westbury last Saturday. In 28 overtime games in school history, NJCU is 6-12-10. HOME...FINALLY: NJCU is finally making its home debut today and playing its 2013 NJAC opener. NJCU’s two previously schedule home openers— September 7 vs. Sarah Lawrence and September 18 vs. NYU-Poly—were both postponed by the opposing schools. NJAC PRESEASON POLL: NJCU was picked 10th in the NJAC’s 2013 coaches preseason poll, after graduating much of its remaining players from the clubs that made three straight post-season appearances from 2009-11. WPU was picked sixth, meaning if the coaches are correct, the Pioneers will be the final team in the 6-team NJAC Tournament.
