Southern Nazarene has committed five turnovers against the Tigers. OUACHITA vs. SOUTHERN ARKANSAS: THE NUMBERS Ouachita currently ranks ninth in Division II with a 50% third down conversion percentage. The Tigers are 60-120 on third down attempts. The Tigers ranks first in the GAC in net punting with a 37.55 yard average. They rank 12th in Division II. The Ouachita offensive line has only allowed four tackles for loss per game this season. That’s tops in the GAC and fifth-best in Division II. They’ve only allowed a total of 24 this season. Kris Oliver, the reigning GAC Offensive Player of the Week, leads the GAC with 965 rushing yards. He’s averaging 107.2 yards per game and scored 14 rushing touchdowns, the most by any running back in the GAC and 11th overall in Division II. OUACHITA vs. SOUTHERN ARKANSAS: 2014 RECAP ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Ouachita Tigers opened the 2014 season and Cliff Harris Stadium with a 28-7 win over Great American Conference opponent Southern Nazarene. On a day when an NFL and Ouachita defensive star was honored, it was only fitting that the Ouachita defense shine. The Tigers held Southern Nazarene to 238 yard of total offense and forced four turnovers. Prior to kickoff, Cliff Harris was joined on the field with Ouachita Baptist President Rex Horne to officially dedicate the new stadium named in Harris’ honor. Standing amongst family, friends and former Ouachita and Cowboys teammates, Harris spoke about his love of Ouachita

and those with him today for such a special honor. Once play began, it was all Ouachita. The Tigers scored on their first possession, going 72 yards on nine plays. Kiehl Frazier, making his first start at quarterback for the Tigers, went 4-4 on the opening drive, connecting on all four passing attempts with wideout Jalen Jones, The drive was capped off with an 11 yard pass from Frazier to Jones to put the Tigers up 7-0. Frazier would complete his first seven pass attempts of the game. On the Tigers next possession, they would need only two plays to score and increase the lead to 14. On a second and seven, Steven Kehner would find a hole through the left side of the line and take it 46 yards for the score. The Tigers would take possession at the end of the first quarter on a turnover. A Kyle Lamothe sack would force SNU quarterback James Mauro to fumble, and Ouachita linebacker Gerald Warner would recover. After changes in possession, Tigers safety Zack Mitchell intercepted a SNU pass with just under 10 minutes left in the half. Six plays later, Frazier would hit an open Brandon Marks out of the backfield on a wheel route. Marks would take it 34 yards for the score. An unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the touchdown would force Matt Ehasz to attempt the extra point from back at the 18 yard line. The successful try gave the Tigers a 21-0 lead going into halftime. The Tigers forced a Southern Nazarene three and out to start the second half. The Tigers opened the quarter with a steady rushing attack. Eight of the nine plays of the opening second-half drive were on the ground. After a 23-yard run by Frazier moved the Tigers into the red zone, Kehner would run on six straight plays before scoring his second touchdown of the game and give the Tigers a 28-0 lead. Near the end of the third quarter, Southern Nazarene began to move the ball more effectively and after a 20-yard pass reception by Pierson Waugh, the Crimson Storm found themselves in Ouachita territory for the first time since the Tigers had stopped them on a fourth and goal in the second quarter. The drive would stop two plays later when AJ Burton would get the second interception of the night for Ouachita. The Tigers defense hope for a shutout would end with 1:50 left in the game, when Mauro would find Austin Williams for a 10-yard touchdown reception. With the score 28-7, the Tigers would get possession on the 50 yard line after a failed onside kick attempt and run down clock to seal the win.

TODD KNIGHT

After 16 seasons as head coach at Ouachita, Todd Knight is the longest standing college head football coach in Arkansas. He has proven to be a strong leader as he heads the Ouachita program with integrity and passion. Knight has guided the Tiger program through the infant stages of NCAA Division II, from the Lone Star Conference, the Gulf South Conference and now the Great American Conference. Steady improvement began in 2002 and 2003 which marked solid squads that would help build the future of Ouachita football. In the inaugural 2011 campaign, Knight led the Tigers to their first ever Great American Conference championship, the first conference championship for the Tigers in over 20 years. The longest tenured coach in the GAC and the Tigers claimed the conference championship once again in 2014, and Knight was named GAC Coach of the Year in both championship seasons. Knight was also named 2014 AFCA Region Three Coach of the Year. Knight has established Ouachita as an elite program among all Division II institutions. He boasts Great American Conference Championships in 2011 and 2014 and 56 All-Great American Conference players in just four years. The team is the only program in the state of Arkansas to boast seven consecutive winning seasons, cracking the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25 in six of seven of those seasons. The team has been ranked as high as seventh in the AFCA poll, and Ouachita finished the 2014 season ranked 10th in all of Division II. Knight leads both on and off the field, and his players have been recognized for being outstanding achievers on the field, in the classroom and in the community. He has recruited and coached six professional football players, 133 All-Conference players, 20 All-Americans, three Honorable Mention All-Americans, 30 Academic All-Conference players and many GSC honor roll athletes. During the 2014 season, the Tigers finished the regular season 10-0 for the first time in program history. After winning the its second GAC championship, Ouachita earned the top seed in the region for the Tigers’ first ever appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament. The Tigers finished the year with one Academic All-American, two All-Americans, six All-Region selections and 18 All-Conference selections. Ouachita also had a player named to the 2014 AFCA Allstate Good Works Team. Knight’s seniors have had a 90% graduation rate and the team has been involved in service to the community for many years. He has been quoted in saying that one of the most gratifying things in coaching is watching his players grow into the total man during their time at Ouachita, graduate and go on to be successful in all aspects of life. Knight’s development at head coach has come under solid leadership, playing under coach Buddy Benson at Ouachita, and later coaching under Red Parker and Don Skelton at Delta State from 1986-1989 and David Lee at the University of Texas at El Paso from 1990-1992. When he returned to Delta State as head coach from 1993-1998, he led the team to its first ever GSC Championship in 1998, also earning GSC Coach of the Year honors that year. Knight was named to the AFCA Board of Trustees following the conclusion of the 2012 football season, adding to his list of accolades. He also served on the NCAA Rules Committee, helping to make changes and restructure the rules for the game of college football along with coaches from around the country.
