The Vassar College men’s volleyball team finishes its 2015 United Volleyball Conference slate this evening, with the luxury of knowing that it is in the UVC Tournament already. The Brewers clinched a spot Saturday with a win over Penn State-Behrend, combined with a pair of losses by MIT to both New York University and Nazareth College. The Brewers will take on No. 3 seed Nazareth College April 10 at 6:30 at Stevens regardless of the outcome this evening. The Brewers have gotten solid contributions across the squad this season, as three players come into tonight’s matchup with over 200 kills. Freshman Zechariah Lee is in the top four in the UVC in assists per set with 9.22, and he leads Division III in service aces per set with 0.70. This season, when the Brewers attack at least a .200 clip, they have gone 13-1, with the lone loss coming against Lasell College.
A Look at THE Raptors
Bard College comes into the contest tonight trying to rebound from dropping its last three contests, falling to No. 11 Elmira College and No. 3 New Paltz last weekend in straight sets. The Raptors have had a solid service game this year under second-year head coach Stefanie Carrington, posting 1.41 aces per game, which ranks in the middle of the UVC. Bard is also fourth in the conference in digs per set with 9.46. Junior Jesse Small has a team-leading 167 kills on the campaign, while teammate Alex Adams has added 138 terminations. Freshman libero Tyler Zowaski has been solid as well for Bard, as he leads the United Volleyball Conference in digs per set with 2.71 a game.

BREWER BIO on ... Trey Cimorelli Cimorelli, a sophomore libero from Orchard Park, NY and Orchard Park High School, has been invaluable for the Brewers the season, on and off the court. Cimorelli has assumed a team captain role this year as just a sophomore, and has fit right in as a team leader, as his strong personality and intense attitude on the court has helped this young Brewer squad. Cimorelli has posted 214 digs this year, which paces the Brewers in the back row and ranks him in the top half of the United Volleyball Conference in digs per set. Cimorelli had registered 11 matches this season with double-digit digs, including posting 18 huge ups in a thrilling five-set win over UVC foe MIT. Earlier in the year, the Brewers also got 17 digs in a match from Cimorelli at Hunter. Cimorelli comes into today’s match 12th all-time at Vassar in digs with 546, and he already is fourth all-time at VC in digs per set with 2.74.
