2017 Annual Spring Pension Conference CIO Panel - Biographies Julie Cays, CFA CIO, CAAT Pension Plan With more than 30 years of experience in the capital markets, Julie has been instrumental in shaping the CAAT investment portfolio to meet the Plan’s long term funding goals. She is the Chair of the board of directors of the Canadian Coalition for Good Governance, Chair of the investment advisory committee of the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation and is a past Chair of the Pension Investment Association of Canada (PIAC). She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Waterloo and is a CFA Charterholder.
Robert Cultraro, CFA CIO, Hydro One Pension Plan Robert is the Chief Investment and Pension Officer at Hydro One Inc. Robert's expertise is in strategic decision making, managing a team of investment professionals and managers, strategic and tactical asset mix management, the selection and monitoring of investments, governance and risk management. Robert has over twenty years of extensive experience in the investment industry, which includes working collaboratively with Boards, investment research and analysis, investment advising and managing investment portfolios. Robert holds relevant industry credentials including the Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst and the Certified Investment Manager designations. Robert is professionally affiliated with the CFA Institute, the Toronto CFA Society, the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association, and is a Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute. Robert is a member of the Investment Advisory Committee for the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee, member of the Toronto CFA Society Portfolio Management Committee, a member of the Board of Directors of the Pension Investment Association of Canada and is Chair of its Investment Practices Committee.
James Davis, CFA CIO, OP Trust James Davis, CFA, is Chief Investment Officer for OPTrust. James is responsible for setting the strategic direction for Investments and overseeing the management of OPTrust's assets to ensure it can deliver sustainable pension security for all of its members. Prior to joining OPTrust, James was Vice President, Strategy & Asset Mix and Chief Economist for Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, where he advised the Teachers’ Board and senior management on such topics as the outlook for the macro economy and financial markets, medium-term risks and Total Fund investment strategy. Prior to joining Teachers’, Mr. Davis managed over $20 billion in global fixed income and foreign currency assets for a large investment management firm. Mr. Davis holds an MBA degree from Dalhousie University as well as undergraduate degrees in meteorology and mathematics. He is a CFA Charterholder.
