2017 REFEREE TRAINING Each 10U and 12U team must have two volunteer referees. AYSO is a 100% volunteer organization. Our trained and certified referees and coaches, together with the parents, make Fun, Fair, and Safe play possible.

If a game has no trained and certified referees, the kids cannot play. Referee volunteers officiate on Saturdays during our Fall Season. They may choose to serve as the referee or as one of the two assistant referees for a game. As an incentive for signing up for at least one game each Saturday, team-affiliated referees who referee 10 or more games in the Fall Season help their team’s seeding in our regional tournament. Teams whose referees officiate 20+ or 30+ games will receive additional credit for tournament seeding. We are offering multiple training sessions for parents and youths (over the age of 12) to become referees. Additionally, practice games are scheduled for the morning of September 2, 2017 for newly referees to prepare (and for returning referees who wish to brush up on the latest rule and law changes). REGIONAL REFEREE: To become a Regional Referee, each volunteer must submit his/her volunteer application through www.aysosm.org, take the Regional Referee Training online course at www.aysou.org, and complete the Regional Referee Field Training. Contact Bruce or William to obtain an AYSOU course voucher for the Regional Referee Training course (free for San Mateo volunteers). After completing the Regional Referee Training online course, join us for Parts 1 and 2 of the Regional Referee Field Training. All Field Training sessions will be at Bay Meadows Park, West Field on 301 E 28th Ave. Session Regional Referee Field Training, Part 1 Regional Referee Field Training, Part 2 Regional Referee Field Training, Parts 1 and 2 Regional Referee Field Training, Part 1 Regional Referee Field Training, Part 2
