U8 REFEREE TRAINING

2016 U6/U8 REFEREE TRAINING U6 and U8 Coaches need two referees to serve as U6/U8 Referees for their teams. AYSO is a 100% volunteer organization. AYSO is about playing Fun, Fair and Safe. Our trained referees and coaches make it possible. If a game has no referee, the kids don't get to play. Each fall season, we need as twice as many referees as coaches for U6 and U8. Referee volunteers only have to commit to refereeing their team’s U6 or U8 game each Saturday. This involves being in the middle of the field with the kids and the U6/U8 referee from the other team to ensure the kids are having a fun, fair, and safe game. Knowing soccer rules or laws is not important; however, volunteers must take a training class to be certified as a U6/U8 referee. Training consists of a Safe Haven online class and a 2 hour inperson class. U6/U8 referees are supplied a whistle and a volunteer T-shirt. If the volunteer has been certified as a U6/U8 referee in the past (their certification is in their eAYSO record), they do not need to retake the class. They do need to have taken the Safe Haven online class in 2015 or 2016 and pick up this year’s U6/U8 referee T-shirt at one of the training sessions. Again, without U6/U8 Referees, the kids cannot play the game!
