The Kansas City Flying Disc Club, a registered not-for-profit corporation, was established in 1988 with these goals: to promote the sport of disc golf, as well as other flying disc sports by (1) holding events and leagues for players of all skill levels; (2) issuing a newsletter to connect the membership, as well as other similar flying disc organizations, the media, and parks departments; (3) working in cooperation with the various park departments to maintain and improve the current courses, and to procure new courses. Working in cooperation with the various Parks and Rec Departments, the all-volunteer KCFDC continues to maintain and to improve the existing courses in the area. The Club runs weekly events during daylight savings time—open to members and non-members alike—for players of all skill levels. Besides taking care of courses and running weeklies, the KCFDC runs or promotes special events, such as the Annual Kansas City Wide Open, KC Disc Golf Day, and Ice Bowl. Since 1999, the KCFDC has hosted three PDGA World Championship events, including one of the largest competitive disc golf event of all time in the summer of 2009 when 921 players attended the PDGA ProAm World Championships. We encourage you join the KCFDC (or to continue your membership) and become part of the growth of disc golf in Kansas City. The game, while relatively new, needs a strong club to connect effectively with the various governments that manage the land on which our courses are located. We are one of the strongest clubs in the country, and we get things done. Come join us. For more information, check out kcfdc.org.
