The Jayhawks have made six-straight NCAA Tournament appearances, won the 2016 Big 12 Conference title, advanced to the 2015 Final Four and were ranked in the top-25 for 45-straight weeks. Since 2012, the Jayhawks have averaged 25 wins per season. Kansas has made a total of nine trips to the NCAA Tournament — all under Coach Bechard. The winningest Jayhawk volleyball coach carries an impressive career record of 1,090 wins and 300 losses, which includes 13 years at Barton County Community College and 20 years at KU.

BECHARD’S POLICIES Each camper will be partially covered by a group accident insurance policy. Please send a photocopy of your insurance card with the registration. An athletic trainer will be on duty at all times. (Please bring your own tape and other supplies if you need to be taped.) Each applicant must have passed a physical examination by a medical doctor within the last year. Please send a photocopy of this year’s school physical with your registration as well as a copy of the liability waiver, which can be found on the Kansas volleyball homepage website at KUAthletics.com. Allow 30 days for confirmations. The cost of the one-day clinics is $110. The cost for an overnight camper is $335, which includes three days of instruction, room, board, partial medical insurance, camp T-shirt and a camp notebook. Day Camper cost is $290, which includes three days of instruction, partial medical insurance, camp T-shirt, camp notebook, lunch and dinner each day (breakfast and board not included). A $110 one-day clinic fee and/or a $110 deposit is due with the registration form. (The full amount can be sent.) The balance is due the first day of camp at check-in. Note that $50 OF THE DEPOSIT IS NON REFUNDABLE. The remainder is refundable up to 14 days before camp starts. No refunds will be given within 14 days of camp except in cases of serious injury. May 31-June 2 or July 6-8 The emphasis of the individual overnight skills camp is to teach and develop the fundamental techniques of volleyball, as well as game strategies. Basic skills are stressed in drills, while team play is incorporated to teach how all the fundamentals fit in the game. Campers will be evaluated in all skills and receive a camp notebook detailing the camp’s training methods. This camp is open to any and all athletes entering grades 6-12 in the of Fall 2017. Campers will compete in the equivalent of 10 league and tournament matches. Each league team will be assigned a camp staff member to help facilitate all the skills learned throughout the camp.
POSITION CLINICS Hitter Camp » May 29 Setter/DS Camp » May 30 We are extending an invitation for position-specific clinics. Athletes entering grades 6-12 in the Fall of 2017 will receive instruction and training for one entire day. The clinic will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with one hour allotted for lunch. Please bring your own lunch.

The purpose of the overnight skills camp is to develop the fundamental skills of volleyball, as well as the strategies for offense and defense. The purpose of the one-day clinics is to give you an opportunity to train specifically in a position.
NECESSARY EQUIPMENT T-shirts, shorts, gym shoes, socks, knee pads, towels, twin bedding, and toiletry items are all necessary items. We will have small pizzas available as a night snack for $5. We will also have KU volleyball merchandise for sale at the camp store. Campers must manage their own money.
CAMP RULES Campers are not allowed to be off campus unless with an organized and supervised camp group. Early departures must furnish written parental notice to the Camp Director at camp check-in. Campers will be supervised by coaches at all times. Failure to comply with these rules will result in immediate dismissal from camp without a refund. Naismith Hall is a 24- hour, secure, air-conditioned residence hall, and will have female staff members residing on each floor.
ARRIVALS/DEPARTURES Setter, Hitter and DS camp registration begins at 8:30 a.m. on the day of camp. Registration for Skills Camp will be from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on the opening day of each camp. Registration for all camps will be at the Horejsi Family Athletic Center located on the Southwest corner of Allen Fieldhouse on the KU campus. The athletes will finish the skills camp with a closing ceremony in the Horejsi Family Athletic Center. This begins at 3:30 p.m. on the final day of camp. Parents are welcome to attend. Campers will be dismissed from the main floor of Naismith Hall at 4:00 p.m. on the last day of camp. A schedule for commuter campers will be available for parents at camp registration. Airport shuttle available if needed.
