We Belong to God We belong to God because He made us. We are His. We do not belong to anyone else. The Bible says that a price was paid for us. Jesus was the price. He died to redeem us. When we accept Jesus as our Savior, we are God’s children. People did not always do the right thing. They lied, cheated, and hurt each other. They became angry and selfish. They forgot about God. They were very unhappy. God saw that His people needed help. He sent Jesus to help the people. Jesus told the people about God’s will. He taught them how to live. He told them to love God and each other. Then they could be happy and live useful lives. Jesus even gave up His life to show us the way. He was glad to die for us. He was God’s Son and filled with God’s love. Ask your teacher to sing this song with you. Jesus loves me. This I know, For the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong; They are weak but He is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. The Bible tells me so. Section 1 | 7

GOD, HIS WORD, AND YOU | Unit 10
God has given us many blessings because He loves us. We have not earned these blessings. They are gifts from God. Jesus is the best gift of all because He is God’s own Son. God gave His only Son because He loves us so much. You can give God a gift. You can be thankful. You can be kind and cheerful. You can be loving. The Bible tells us about God’s love for the world in John 3:16. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” This verse is a very good one to remember. Try to learn to say it without looking at the words.

(John 3:16)
Only Jesus has ever seen God because God is a spirit. Jesus came to tell us about God so that we might know more about Him and obey His will. We know that God is very powerful because He created the whole universe. God created everything that is. God is everywhere, and He knows everything. God knows everything about you. He is always there. You are never alone. You should never be lonely because you can always talk to God. Talking to God is a very special thing to do. You can always talk to God. He is waiting to talk to you. Talking to God is called prayer. When we go to church, we all pray together, but you can pray anytime or anywhere. You can say “hello” to God and tell Him how you feel. You can tell Him anything, and He will understand.

GOD, HIS WORD, AND YOU | Unit 10
Read this prayer that some children say before they go to bed at night.
A Nightime Prayer Now I lay me down to sleep. I pray Thee Lord, my soul to keep. If I should die before I wake, I pray Thee, Lord, my soul to take. If I should live to other days, I pray Thee Lord, to guide my ways. I pray these things in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Maybe you would like to make up your own prayer. You might say something like this one:
“Goodnight, God. I love you. Thank you for Jesus and for this day. Please take care of me and my loved ones while we sleep. Help me to be kind and loving tomorrow. Amen.”
