4-H Holiday Workshops Saturday, December 9, 2017 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Join us for an exciting morning of 4-H workshops!

Be sure to read each workshop description carefully so you will know the cost of each and what supplies to bring along.

9:00 to 9:30 a.m.—Registration 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.—Session 1 10:45 to 11:45 a.m.—Session 2 11:45 to 12 noon—Wrap-Up/Evaluation

A. Grinch Slime and Who Hash - Instructor:

Holly Harwood, Cost: $6.00 Make your own slime that can fill the toughest Grinch’s heart! We will also serve up some ‘Who Hash’ (trail mix) to share with your friends while enjoying the timeless classic “How The Grinch Stole Christmas!” What to bring: An adult with helping hands. OFFERED SESSION 2 ONLY

B. Holiday Cookies from Around the World –

Instructor: Sarah Carlson, Cost: $12.00 Learn about holiday traditions around the world - in the form of cookies! You will have an opportunity to taste some cookies made from holiday recipes from Sweden, Austria, Germany, Egypt, and more! A recipe book will be provided, and you will also make and take some dough from 1 recipe out of the book! What to bring: Medium sized mixing bowl, medium sized Tupperware container, and spatula.

C. Holiday Card Making –

Instructors: Melissa Mitchell, Debbie Fugle, & Sally Woods, Cost: $6.00 Craft three holiday themed cards using different techniques! What to bring: Scissors, glue stick, 2-sided tape, ruler, and a pencil. OFFERED SESSION 1 ONLY

D. Holiday Centerpiece –

Instructors: Karen Milligan & Roxanne Dueppengiesser, Cost: $6.00 Create a festive evergreen centerpiece for the holidays! Makes a great gift or holiday arrangement for your own home! Required skills: Patience and creativity! What to bring: Garden shears or clippers.

E. Mini Wreaths –

Instructors: Lisa Conklin, Sara Norton, & Jessica Olin, Cost: $1.50 Wrap mason jar rings with yarn and embellish with holiday trims. These mini wreaths make great ornaments or clever tags on gifts. They also make great gifts to give away! Required skills: Ability to use a hot glue gun. What to bring: All materials provided by instructor.

F. For the Birds –

Instructor: Katie Marusarz, Cost: None Share your holiday cheer with your feathered friends by making birdfeeders and cozy recycled bird houses! (* No peanut butter will be used!) Required skills: patience and enthusiasm! What to bring: All materials provided by instructor.

G. Christmas Centerpiece & Shotgun Shell Ornaments – Instructors:

Jill Paddock & Amy Perl, Cost: $8.00 Make a mason jar centerpiece filled with pine and berry’s, along with adorable little snowmen for your Christmas tree or holiday packages, using empty shotgun shells! What to bring: All materials provided by instructor.

H. Junk Journal – Instructor:

Doreen Schenk, Cost: $8.00 Participants will repurpose an old book to make a Junk Journal. A Junk Journal is a book to doodle, journal, paint, etc. and is made from cardstock, pretty papers, and “found “ things! Required skills: Creativity What to bring: All materials provided by instructor.

I. DIY Christmas Wrapping Paper – Instructors:

Megan & Michelle Minkel, Cost: $2.00 You will learn how to make your own Christmas themed wrapping paper, creating 3 different designs using cookie cutters, bubble wrap, and string. Your family will love getting a gift that’s wrapped with something you made! What to bring: All materials provided by instructor.

J. Zipper Art - Basic –

Instructor: Kay Swyers, Cost: $1.00 In this class, you will learn how to make several zipper art crafts that can be used as a gift or as an ornament! Required skills: This craft requires using a hot glue gun! What to bring: All materials provided by instructor. OFFERED SESSION 1 ONLY

K. Zipper Art - Advanced –

Instructor: Kay Swyers, Cost: $1.00 In this class, you will learn how to make an advanced zipper art craft that can be used as a gift or as an ornament! Required skills: This craft requires hand stitching and the use of a hot glue gun. What to bring: All materials provided by instructor. OFFERED SESSION 2 ONLY

L. Holiday Snowflake Ornament – Instructor:

Stephanie Luders, Cost: $6.00 Participants will make a woven fabric snowflake ornament! An easy ornament made from fabric, poster board, and glue! What to bring: Hot glue gun and scissors.
