Blocks - 10 ½” Unfinished - Make 16 Match each 6 ½” panel image with a pair of 2 ½” x 6 ½” rectangles and a matching pair of 2 ½” x 10 ½” rectangles. Sew a 2 ½” x 6 ½” rectangle to each side of the 6 ½” square. Add the 2 ½” x 10 ½” rectangles to the top and bottom. Make 16 blocks.

Checkerboard Sashing & Border Pair (18) 1½” x WOF strips of 7576-44 Cream Swirl and 7576-38 Brown Swirl. Sew strips together lengthwise. Cross cut the strips into (450) segments. Sew the two-patch segments into (225) four -patch blocks. 1 1/2”
From these, make (20) sets of (5) four patch blocks. Begin each set with a Brown Swirl square in the upper left corner. Make (5) sets of (25) four patch blocks. Begin each set with a Brown Swirl square in the upper left corner. Arrange the blocks in a pleasing arrangement in four rows of four blocks each, alternating with the shorter sashing strips. Begin and end with a sashing strip, making sure the top left square is brown. Sew the rows together. Alternate the rows with the long sashing strips, beginning and ending with a sashing strip. Second, Third and Fourth Borders
Add the Brown Swirl 1 ½” inner border: sew 1 ½” x 50 ½” strips to each side. Sew 1 ½” x 52 ½” strips to the top and bottom. Coffee Cup Blocks 10 ½” unfinished, make 16 Arrange the coffee cup and handle pieces with the Cream Swirl background pieces following the diagram below. The cup bottom rectangle (1 ½” x 4 ½”) has a one 1 ½” square sewn to each side. To do this, draw a line from corner to corner on the wrong side of the 1 ½” square. Place on the appropriate corner of the cup rectangle and sew on the drawn line. Trim corner off, 1/4” from the seam. The handle pieces ( 1” x 1 ½” rectangles) are pieced in the same manner, using the 1” cream squares. Be sure to note the placement of the squares in opposite corners! Sew the cup block together. Match each 6 ½” cup blocks with a pair of 2 ½” x 6 ½” rectangles and a matching pair of 2 ½” x 10 ½” rectangles. Sew a 2 ½” x 6 ½” rectangle to each side of the 6 ½” square. Add the 2 ½” x 10 ½” rectangles to the top and bottom. Make 16 blocks. Follow the instructions for the checkerboard sashing and borders in the panel block quilt on the left.
