Welcome back to Term 2 We hope you had a restful break and are ready for the run up to Christmas! This is one of our favourite terms at school and we are already making festive preparations! Last term was incredibly busy, but hugely productive with the completion of the new offices and classrooms. We hope you all had a chance to look around during the recent parent consultation evenings, if not, there will be an opportunity to do so in the exciting events we have planned for you this term.

Miss Burelli We are pleased to announce that we have a new receptionist in our school office - Miss Stefania Burelli. I am sure you will join us in making her feel very welcome at Challock.

We will be having a ‘Christmassy Clothes’ themed non-uniform day on Friday 27th November, the fine will be chocolate for the Chocolate Raffle. This day is when we officially start Christmas at school, as the children will also be watching our annual Christmas Pantomime! Letters with further details will be sent out shortly.

Bring and Buy Sale On Wednesday Matisse class ran their own Bring and Buy sale. Thank you to all the children who brought in pre-loved toys and books, there was a fantastic amount and lots of fun was had by all, buying and selling. Over £114 was made for Save the Children. An amazing effort!!

Author Visit – Tuesday 10th November Laura Wood is the author of the award-winning children’s fiction book called ‘‘Poppy Pym’’. She has kindly agreed to come and talk to our Junior children about her novel and answer any questions about her experience as a writer. After school she will be available in the hall for a book signing. For anyone wishing to purchase a signed copy of the book the cost is £6.99.

Remembrance Service – Wednesday 11th November Some of our children will be congregating at the Memorial at the corner of Blind Lane and Church Lane on Wednesday morning. They will be laying a wreath on the school’s behalf.

Guinness World Records Day – Thursday 12th November On Thursday, we are taking part in the WSSA’s (World Sport Stacking Association) yearly attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record mark for ‘’Most People Sport Stacking at Multiple Locations in One Day.’’ To do so, we are inviting children from our classes to come into the hall and sports stack for half an hour, taking part in activities which will involve learning the traditional stacks, as well as some fun stacking games. To find out more, visit the website: http://www.thewssa.com/stackup/2015/ Reminder that our ‘Phil the Bag’ event is on Wednesday 18th November. Please bring your bags in on the morning of the event. If you run out of ‘Phil the Bag’ bags, you can use black sacks.

Celebrating out of school achievements We love it when the children share their out of school achievements with us. If your child has a particular talent, has taken part in sporting competitions, performed in something after school or won trophies – please take a photo and let them bring it into school. We would love to make a display of these photos so everyone can celebrate their out of school achievements and talents.

Emailing Newsletters We are currently trialling a new e-mailing system to parents. If we already have your email address, you should receive this newsletter as an email. Should the trial be successful and you would like future correspondence to be sent to you via email, please ensure you give Miss Burelli in the school office your correct email address.
