9/24/14 Karch Majtenyi U17/18 Capital Area RailHawks Team Member
Karch began his soccer career in Capital Area Soccer League (CASL) at age 4 in the Mini-Kickers program. He spent the next 4 years with the Tigers in the Recreation League, then 1 year in the Youth Training System (YTS), and eventually joined the Classic League in U11 at age 9. Karch supplemented his CASL experience with 4 years of foundational training at Next Level Academy (NLA). In his last year with CASL (U16 Elite Black), Karch was a 2014 Hamilton Sportsmanship Award winner. As a high school senior, he joined the U17/18 Capital Area RailHawks Academy team in August 2014. Karch played for Millbrook High School (MHS) for 2 seasons, as a sophomore and junior; during Fall 2013 with Karch as a starting center-midfielder, the MHS Wildcats went to the quarter-finals of the NCHSAA 4A State Tournament. In his spare time, Karch was assistant coach for CASL Challenge Team U11 Hawks in 2013-2014; with Karch, the team won the NCYSA Singer Challenge Cup in May 2014.
Of the many coaches who influenced Karch’s development, there are 4 who affected him personally: Ron Gridley (CASL Recreation), whose passion for soccer started it all; Damon Nahas (NLA), whose skills motivated Karch to strive for perfection; Tim Evans (CASL U14/15 Premiere White and Black), who was the exemplary center-back player/coach; and John Bradford (U11 Elite Black, and current Academy), who is Karch's inspiration to achieve his athletic performance goals. “Each coach had a different coaching style, and each style has been extremely effective for me at that time,” says Karch. This year, Karch aims to have 0 goals scored against the team when he is on the field; he also intends to finish the senior year of high school with all A’s. Karch would like to play at the college level while studying Biology (pre-Med); he would also like to earn opportunities to play professionally. About his Academy team, Karch says, “we need to focus on one game at a time, stay humble, and respect our team code.” He expects this team to win the league in the regular season and he hopes to go far in the playoffs. Best of luck to Karch this year and the U17/18 Capital Area RailHawks Academy Team.
