ABOUT The RNS Girls’ Soccer Program Rothesay Netherwood School offers an elite soccer academy program for girls in Grades 8-12 that incorporates a first-class education with a unique soccer opportunity for girls who wish to pursue a university education and soccer career. Beginning in September 2013, RNS will have two varsity-aged soccer teams. One team will compete in the New Brunswick Interscholastic Athletic Association (NBIAA), while the other will be an exhibition team that will compete in tournaments at home, in the Maritimes, and in the northeastern US. Over the first couple of years, the team and coaches will be working diligently to develop the program’s foundation based on the philosophy of RNS. The long-term goal will be to coach, develop, and mentor excellent students who are good soccer players to become university-calibre players in North America.

University Opportunities The University Placement Office at RNS works one-on-one with students as they make their post-secondary education decisions and work their way through the application and scholarship process. 99-100% of RNS graduates are accepted into leading universities in Canada, the US and abroad, many with scholarship awards.

Cuilean Hendra
VARSITY GIRLS’ SOCCER COACH
Mr. Cuilean Hendra is a long-time soccer player, coach and organizer. He began his soccer career in the Celtics Soccer Clubs in Antigonish, NS before going on to play for Mount Allison and Memorial universities where he was an RBC Academic All-Canadian. Cuilean has played for Senior A and B teams in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland, has coached at Les Jeux de l’Acadie, and has led successful varsity squads at both Fundy High School and RNS (Provincial AA Girls’ Champions 2010 and 2012). He founded the local Schooners FC and in turn has coached them to a Senior B league championship (2008, 2009, Van Horne Cup 2010). Cuilean is the co-founder, current President and Director of the McCain New Brunswick Premier Soccer League and is the Director of Coaching for Soccer New Brunswick. He has taught IB French and Social Studies at RNS, while coaching the varsity girls’ soccer team since 2009.
