Value for April: Understanding.

We will be helping the children to understand how others feel, how to show empathy (including really listening / really seeing), beginning to understand why others behave the way they do, and understanding self. Questions to discuss with your child: Who understands you? What does understanding mean to you? How can you understand how someone else is feeling? How can we get better at understanding how others are feeling? Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding. Albert Einstein Science is a way of life. Science is a perspective. Science is the process that takes us from confusion to understanding in a manner that's precise, predictive and reliable - a transformation, for those lucky enough to experience it, that is empowering and emotional. Brian Greene

The most important thing is to read as much as you can, like I did. It will give you an understanding of what makes good writing and it will enlarge your vocabulary. J. K. Sparrows Class Reception have been on a mini beast hunt to see how many different insects we could find. We then had fun drawing them.

Magpies Class We used the magnifying glass to help us see the tiny insects so we could draw them.

Blackbirds Class We have been learning to make 10 in different ways using 2 different numbers with the Numicon to help us.

Year One Welcome back Year 1. We’ve had a very exciting start to the term. Our new topic is ‘Plants’. We have found out the name of the different parts of a plant/flower and we have been busy planting our own plants to see how they grow. Eagles class have turned their planting into an experiment, we want to see if they can grow and live both inside and outside.

We were also lucky enough to have a visit from Hettie the Hedgehog and her friends who put on a play for the whole school filled with drama, dance and songs, encouraging children with our theme of recycling.

Volunteers Needed! We have purchased a suite of library software so that your child can borrow our books, just as in a normal library. However, before we can get to that stage we need help in order to “beep” each book to log it on the software system. Do you have a spare half an hour during the week where you could sit and input this information (using a bar code reader) to our library PC? Training will be given. Please let the office if you are interested so they can begin the DBS process. THANK YOU! Mrs. Helen Lockham
