[email protected] Value for April: Understanding.
We will be helping the children to understand how others feel, how to show empathy (including really listening / really seeing), beginning to understand why others behave the way they do, and understanding self. Questions to discuss with your child: Who understands you? What does understanding mean to you? How can you understand how someone else is feeling? How can we get better at understanding how others are feeling?

Science is a way of life. Science is a perspective. Science is the process that takes us from confusion to understanding in a manner that's precise, predictive and reliable - a transformation, for those lucky enough to experience it, that is empowering and emotional. Brian Greene

The most important thing is to read as much as you can, like I did. It will give you an understanding of what makes good writing and it will enlarge your vocabulary. J. K. Rowling A successful life is one that is lived through understanding and pursuing one's own path, not chasing after the dreams of others. Chin-Nih

Lost Property Please ensure that your child's uniform is named. We know that children lose things and learning responsibility takes some time. If you find that your child has brought home someone else’s jumper (or other item of uniform) then please return it to either the class teacher, or if you know the family, the parents. This will help save on replacement uniform. If named lost property is found by staff it is returned to the child’s peg / classroom. Unnamed lost property is collected in a box and parents are welcome to browse through it. Please speak to the office regarding this. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Sparrows Class Sparrows had a lovely time at Willows Farm, the weather stayed fine and all the children behaved wonderfully. They particularly enjoyed petting the guinea pigs and having fun on the bouncy castle.
Magpies In Magpies class we have been learning about time and how we can show it on a clock. We have learnt all about o'clock and half past.
Blackbird Class Blackbirds had a great day out at Willows Farm - the children loved feeding the animals, milking Daisy the cow and seeing the sheep with their lambs. In class we have been learning about time using the clocks. We have been talking about our routines and the time that we do things.

Year One Last week the Easter Bunny popped into School! We made Easter baskets to prepare for his visit. The PTA greeted him and we hunted around the playground for tokens which we were able to trade in for a surprise chocolate egg. We had so much fun and are so grateful to the PTA for taking the time to be the Easter Bunny’s helper for the day.
In Literacy we have been learning how to describe different characters using similes focusing on the story of Snow White. How would you describe yourself using a simile?

Phone Number Please could you use the land line phone number 01923 801559 to contact the school rather than the mobile number. Please could you ensure you delete the mobile number from your phones and update with the landline number.
Volunteers Needed! We have purchased a suite of library software so that your child can borrow our books, just as in a normal library. However, before we can get to that stage we need help in order to “beep” each book to log it on the software system. Do you have a spare half an hour during the week where you could sit and input this information (using a bar code reader) to our library PC? Training will be given. Please let the office know your name and availability. THANK YOU! Mrs Helen Lockham
