Athlete and/or Coach 100/110m Hurdles Clinic When: Thursday June 8. Where: Lake Park High School West Campus. 500 West Bryn Mawr Avenue, Roselle, IL 60172. We will meet in the front entrance and walk to the classrooms so please be on time. What: 100/110m hurdles clinic from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday June 8. Who: This clinic is for athletes ages 8-18 and/or coaches that would like to learn more about the short hurdle races. The athletes will be broken into two different groups: beginner and intermediate/advanced if numbers dictate. Tentative Schedule: 4pm – 4:40 Classroom Presentation 4:40-5:20 Practice on Track 5:20-6 Classroom Presentation 6-6:40 Practice on Track 6:40-7:20: Classroom Presentation 7:20-8 Practice on Track
Format: We will be bouncing back and forth between classroom and track work to teach what we are looking for in a visual and kinesthetic way of teaching. Cost: $50 per day per athlete or coach. Lead Instructor: Bob Nihells has been a coach at Lake Park for the last 35 years. In that time he has owned 5 state records and had over 50 state place winners including 11 state champions. Coach Nihells just moved over to the hurdles for the girls program this past year and both of his girls on both levels at conference finished in 1st and 2nd this year in the 100m hurdles. Coach Nihells is a USATF Level 1 and USTFCCCA Level 2 Certified coach. Jay Ivory enters his 18th year at Lake Park and 17th season as head coach. Due to the tremendous efforts of his athletes and staff, the team won 4 straight IHSA 3A State Championships, and Coach Ivory was named IHSA 3A Track Coach of the Year 4 years in a row. In 2014 he coached school record holder Antonio Shenault to a state championship in the 110 High Hurdles. Coach Ivory is a USATF Level 1 and USTFCCCA Level 2 Certified coach. Registration: Signup online at www.dupagetrackclub.org and follow directions. Enrollment will be on a first come first serve basis. The limit of athletes will be 15 to make sure we have small group training. Deadline for signing up will be Friday June 2. There will be no limit for the number of coaches to sign up. Filming: No filming of the clinic will be allowed.
