Athlete and/or Coach Horizontal Jumps Clinic - DuPage Track Club
Athlete and/or Coach Horizontal Jumps Clinic When: Wednesday (Long Jump) June 7 and Thursday (Triple Jump) June 8. Where: Lake Park High School West Campus. 500 West Bryn Mawr Avenue, Roselle, IL 60172. We will meet in the front entrance and walk to the classrooms so please be on time. What: Long Jump Clinic from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday June 7. Triple Jump Clinic from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday June 8. Who: This clinic is for athletes ages 8-18 and/or coaches that would like to learn more about the horizontal jumps. The athletes will be broken into three different groups: beginner, intermediate and advanced if numbers dictate. Tentative Schedule: 4 – 4:40 Classroom Presentation 4:40-5:20 Practice on Track 5:20-6 Classroom Presentation 6-6:40 Practice on Track 6:40-7:20: Classroom Presentation 7:20-8 Practice on Track
Format: Long Jump: We will start with running mechanics in the classroom and then practice those outside. Phase two will consist of teaching how to set up for a jump in the classroom and then practice that outside. The last phase will consist of the takeoff and teaching the landing and then practicing that outside. Triple Jump: We will start with teaching how to setup properly for a jump in the classroom and then practice that outside. Phase two will consist of teaching the first phase in the classroom and then practice that outside. Phase three will consist of teaching the second and third phase in the classroom and then practicing those outside. Cost: $50 per day per athlete or coach. Lead Instructor: Tom Kaberna has been a coach at Lake Park for the last ten years. In that time his horizontal jumpers have rewritten every school record and have been an integral part of four state championships for the team. Specifically, in the last five years coach Kaberna has coached twelve all state horizontal jump athletes including six top three finishes in that time span. Registration: Signup online at www.dupagetrackclub.org and follow directions. Enrollment will be on a first come first serve basis. The limit of athletes will be 15 to make sure we have small group training. Deadline for signing up will be Friday June 2. There will be no limit for the number of coaches to sign up. Filming: No filming of the clinic will be allowed.
