Best Friends Embroidery Block of the Month Wednesday, August 9th, September 13th, October 11th & November 8th 10:00 am – 4:30 pm (classroom available at 9:45 am for set-up) Class Fee: $40.00 or 2 CC per Session Instructor: Georgia Mate Supplies you will need:
Embroidery machine in good working order with power cord, foot control, and a new needle. Be sure to bring your sewing machine instruction book if you are sewing on something other than a BERNINA. Basic Sewing Supplies - Good quality fabric scissors - Small scissors or snips - Seam ripper - Straight pins - Fabric marker - Extra machine needles - Pen & paper for notes - Anything else you commonly use for a day of sewing! Best Friends design pack. You need to purchase it from the store and download it to your USB device in the proper format for your machine. Your Maxi or Jumbo Hoop and template and Vis-à-vis pen. Fabric – Purchase according to the pattern Decorative threads in the colors that will work with your fabrics. You will also need to bring your bobbin thread as you will probably need to fill a few bobbins. Ultra Clean ‘n’ Tear stabilizer. I recommend purchasing the widest roll (20”) because you will need two thicknesses per block. Please do not cut this ahead of time because the stabilizer needs to be bigger than the fabric square. Extra size 80/ universal needles. Please bring your machine oil (if you have a BERNINA)as we will need to oil before the day is out.
Before coming to class:
Print the PDF file that has all of the instructions. Please cut your background fabrics to the size shown on page 3. You will need to starch it on both sides and keep it as flat as possible. Please do not forget both your template marking pens (Vis –a-Vis) AND your fabric marking pen. I prefer the Frixion pens for fabric marking. Ideally you need something to store your finished blocks in. We will be breaking for lunch so plan accordingly. Jimmy John’s delivers or there are fast food establishments close by – Culver’s, Chipotle, Carl’s Jr, etc.

Classes must be paid for at time of registration. One week cancellation notice required for refund or credit fees. It is important to have all your materials before class begins and to have your sewing machine set up and ready to sew. Our teachers make every effort to start on time. All brands of sewing machines and sergers are welcome. As a courtesy to others, please turn off cell phones during class. Loaner machines are available for $10.00 rental fee at time of registration. This class is for the specific project as described here. If you wish to make something different, it should be done outside of class.
