Use (1) light and (1) dark fabric. Fabrics are listed in order of use. A - (6) squares, 1 5⁄8" x 1 5⁄8" (LIGHT) B - (18) squares, 1 5⁄8" x 1 5⁄8" (DARK) • cut (12) squares C - (2) squares, 2 3⁄8" x 2 3⁄8" (LIGHT) D - (1) square , 4 1⁄4" x 4 1⁄4" (LIGHT) E - (4) squares, 2" x 2" (LIGHT) = cut once diagonally from corner to corner = cut twice diagonally from corner to corner ----------------------------------------------------------------------Assembly 1. Draw a diagonal line, corner to corner, on the wrong side of (1) A square and place on (1) B square, right sides together; pin in place. Stitch a 1⁄4" seam allowance on each side of drawn line. Cut in half and press pieced squares toward B. Make (12). B A

4. Sew (4) pieced units together from Step 3; sew into rows, pressing rows in opposite directions. Sew rows together and press center seam open for Unit #1.

Unit #1

5. Sew (2) pieced triangles from Step 2 to short sides of (1) C triangle; press toward pieced triangles. Make (4) Unit #2 Flying Geese. D

6. Lay out Unit #1, Unit #2’s, and E squares, as shown. Sew into rows; press each row in opposite direction. Sew rows together (press seams open) to create the Lisa’s Star block measuring 6 1⁄2" square.

2. Sew (2) B triangles to (1) pieced square from Step 1, as shown. Make (12) pieced triangles. B

3. Sew (1) pieced triangle from Step 2 to (1) C triangle; press toward pieced triangle. Make (4) pieced units. C
