Use (1) light and (1) dark fabric. Fabrics are listed in order of use. A - (4) squares, 1 7⁄8" x 1 7⁄8" (LIGHT) B - (4) squares, 1 7⁄8" x 1 7⁄8" (DARK) C - (8) squares, 1 ½" x 1 ½" (DARK) D - (8) squares, 1 ½" x 1 ½" (LIGHT) E - (4) rectangles, 1 ½" x 2 ½" (DARK) F - (4) rectangles, 1 ½" x 2 ½" (LIGHT) G - (1) square, 2 ½" x 2 ½" (LIGHT) ------------------------------------------------------------Assembly 1. Draw a diagonal line, corner to corner, on the wrong side of (1) A square and place on (1) B square; pin in place. Stitch a 1⁄4" seam allowance on each side of drawn line. Cut in half and press pieced squares toward B. Make (8).
3. Layer (1) D square on one end of (1) E rectangle; pin in place. Stitch diagonally across D square. Trim to a 1⁄4" seam allowance and press toward E. Repeat for opposite end of E, as shown. Make (4) Flying Geese units. E

4. Sew (1) Flying Geese unit from Step 3 to (1) F rectangle; press toward Flying Geese unit. Make (4) Unit #2. F

5. Lay out Unit #1’s, Unit #2’s, and G square, as shown. Sew into rows; press each row in opposite direction. Sew rows together (press open) to create the Starz block measuring 6 ½" square.

2. Sew (2) pieced squares from Step 1 to (2) C squares, as shown; press toward C’s and press center seam open. Make (4) Unit #1. C
