Boy Scout Troop 127 “WELCOME FAMILIES” – FALL 2017

Dear Scout Families, Welcome back to another great year of scouting! I want to share some important dates with you so we can work together and keep the financial side of the troop operating as smoothly as possible. Please keep this letter handy to remind you of the dates items are due this fall. This is not all-inclusive, as there will be events throughout this semester that have fees associated and will be due at that time. DUES/CHARTER: Our Troop Dues are $90.00/year. For ease of recordkeeping, we have eliminated the Spring Family obligation (SFO) and collect $90.00 for the Fall Family Obligation (FFO). If you have more than one scout in the troop, we offer a Brother Discount of $10. The first scout pays $90.00, and all subsequent scouts pay $80.00. We will work with you to make any kind of payment arrangements that may work better for your family. Dues are deposited into the Troop’s general fund to cover annual rechartering, recognition supplies, troop equipment, program supplies, and miscellaneous administrative costs. The yearly $33.00 BSA re-charter fee for all current scouts is covered by the dues and is not collected from the scouts. NEW SCOUTS pay a pro-rated charter fee with registration, depending on what time of the year the scout registers. In addition, NEW SCOUTS do not pay the Family Obligation in the semester they join. New scouts joining in the fall, however, will have a dues obligation of $45.00 in the spring. Any scouts joining in the spring will not owe dues until fall. . If you are thinking about registering as an Adult Leader/Volunteer (and we hope you do!!!!), you will need to fill out an adult application. The annual charter fee of $33.00 is paid by the adults. It is pro-rated depending on what time of year you register. Please consider being a registered Adult in our troop. We have just a few registered Adults and they would appreciate some more adults to help the boys achieve their goals. We have a very active troop and all parents are encouraged to ask where you can help. It is not reasonable to leave all the tasks to just a select few adults. Many hands, light work…as they say. FUNDRAISING: Participating in the fundraising opportunities of our Troop can help to reduce your scouting expenses, such as dues, activity fees, or summer camp. A percentage of the money earned from fundraising is added to your scout’s personal account which can be used to pay for scoutrelated fees. Also, the more you participate in fundraisers, the more it benefits the troop, and we are able to provide some extra fun and also do more in terms of community service. We do 2 main fundraisers each year; the fall Popcorn Sale and the spring Pancake Breakfast. We also held 2 hot dog sales last year, which were very profitable. I’m sure we will hold some this year as well.

*Full payment for all orders is due at this time - No “collect-on-delivery” or partial payments please. Also, if possible, please deposit any cash received from your sales and write one check to the troop for this cash portion. This will make the popcorn reconciliation infinitely easier. Please help me to keep the financial side of the troop running as smoothly as possible. Please refer to these dates and make arrangements to get things in on-time so that council deadlines can be met. If you have any questions about these dates or about your scout’s account please contact me. I am usually at the meetings every week, or you can email me @ [email protected] or call 585-472-3273. Thank you, Rhonda Noone, Troop 127 Treasurer
