Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department encourages community involvement for National Night Out. Neighborhood groups still have time to plan and register your event! INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) invites neighborhoods in the city of Indianapolis to participate in, and celebrate, National Night Out (NNO) on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit, and send a strong message to criminals, letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. In 2014, there were number of events held throughout the city of Indianapolis some of which received a visit from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. We are hoping for even more participation this year. “National Night Out showcases the vital importance of a police-community partnership,” said IMPD Chief Rick Hite. “We all need citizen involvement for a safer Indianapolis.” On Tuesday, August 4, 2015, from early evening to as late as 9 p.m., residents in neighborhoods throughout Indianapolis are asked to spend the evening outside with your neighbors and police. While the traditional “lights on” remain a part of NNO, activities have expanded to include a variety of events such as block parties, pot lucks, cookouts, contests, and youth activities. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is committed to making National Night Out a time for our community to stand together, promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity. Please contact your district Crime Watch Specialist for more information on how to register your event. North District Northwest East Downtown Southwest Southeast
