Deep Impact Missions Weeks are prepackaged week long mission experiences sponsored by NC Baptist Men that provides students and their leaders the opportunity to: “Share God’s love with people through word and deed.” Youth and leaders will participate in a variety of mission opportunities. Morning devotions and worship each evening will help students reflect on their lives and commit themselves to serving others in Christ’s name. Tad Craig, Wilkesboro Baptist Church’s Youth and Education Minister, will serve as the local coordinator for the event and has asked the churches of the Brushy Mountain Baptist Association to support this effort. If you have any questions, costs, etc., please contact Tad Craig at 667-1271. REMINDER-Volunteers (youth and adults) and projects are needed. Please contact Lee Hollis at 902-7981 if you are willing to work or have information on needs. Please consider how your church can help with this effort and please pray that this effort will

I once was asked, “Can you furnish an example of how an Association can begin a new ministry?” That is a fair question to raise for any supporter of Associational missions. In this article, I want to give a recent example.

A few days ago, our office received a telephone call from Marvin Robinson. He is the attendant who monitors the Bandit’s Roost Campground on Highway 268. He also is a Baptist deacon from Florida with a soul winners heart. Prior to his call, he obtained permission from the campground Superintendent to establish worship services each Sunday, if churches were interested in launching such a ministry to campers visiting the area. Being a Baptist caused him to contact the Brushy Mountain Baptist Association to see if any of our churches would be interested in pursuing such a ministry from June through October. I considered this an opportunity presented to us from the hand of the Lord. After contacting a few churches to gauge interest, we now have in place a new ministry that will meet spiritual needs among the many campers coming to our area. I also needed a public address system for use by the teams who would lead these worship services. Once again, a contact was made to an Associational leader who came through to help provide the needed sound system.

This example shows what an can do in a few short days to meet a opportunity. The following churches participating this summer and fall:

Greetings from the h.o.p.e. Center: As I was sitting, praying and thinking about what to write this month, a verse of Scripture came to mind. “and do not forget
to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.” Hebrews 13:16. Every year about this time our dona-
tions drop off. People are beginning to think about themselves and summer plans for vacation to the beach or mountains, etc. We focus on ourselves and not others. Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with a time of rest and relaxation because God wants us to enjoy what He has created. I would like to remind you that hunger never takes a vacation even in the summer. As you make your plans for the summer, will you sacrifice anything for those in need? Thank you in advance for all you do for the people that are helped at h.o.p.e. Ministry. Your
