2016 Holiday House Contest Make 2016 the Brightest in Brandermill! Residents should have recently received a flyer in their paper chute about the 2016 Holiday House Contest. The Community Services Committee decided to move the judging dates later by one week to give people more time to decorate. We hope to have more entries this year given the extra week. The Bottoms Family will assist again this year with the judging instead of lighting up their display. We hope that everyone takes the opportunity to enter. The Grand Prize this year is a 2017 Brandermill Pool Family Membership! You can find an entry form and detailed information on our website under Calendar of Events.

Dispose of unwanted papers & electronics at recycle event Saturday, Nov. 19 9 a.m. until noon. Chesterfield County Fairgrounds 10300 Courthouse Rd.

Happy “Trails” A note from the Property Management Team The Property Management team has noticed an increased number of utility trailers parked on Brandermill properties lately. As a reminder, the BCA Covenants Part II, Paragraph 5 read as follows: “No mobile home, trailer, tent, barn, or other similar outbuilding or structure shall be placed on any lot at any time, either temporarily or permanently. Boats, boat trailers, campers, recreational vehicles, or utility trailers may be maintained on a lot, but only within an enclosed or screened area approved by the Company such that they are not generally visible from adjacent properties.” In order to avoid a violation arriving in your mailbox, please keep this policy in mind with regard to trailers, boats, campers, or RVs. The BCA certainly promotes a resident’s efforts in attending to their property and we know trailers allow for that effort to be maximized. We also know that periodically other restricted vehicle types require maintenance or cleaning that need to be accomplished at home. However, please contact the BCA office and alert

Meet Tom! Property Management staff of the planned and intended use. Please give a start and end date so that staff will be fully aware of the owner’s ongoing efforts, and will therefore refrain from sending a violation notice. You can apply to the Architectural Review Board to add a screening enclosure to your property as the permanent housing of a trailer, boat etc... This requires the written approval from the ARB after having received a plan detailing the proposed location, the materials to be used and size of the screening enclosure. Please be sure to apply BEFORE building the enclosure; this will alleviate all possible issues related to the screening. The application can be found on the website at www.brandermill. com. Please contact the BCA office with any questions or concerns, we are ready to assist in this and all ARB or covenant enforcement related matters. Thank you for doing your part in keeping Brandermill beautiful! The photo below shows a properly screened trailer for your reference.

R.A.L Pet of the Week This week’s pet of the week is Tom Sawyer! He’s a 4 year old Hound mix, neutered male, and UTD on vaccines. Tom Sawyer is lovable and friendly. He's great with kids (including his foster family's 5-year-old). He really appreciates having a friendly dog friend around too (though not one who tries to dominate him which makes him anxious). If you're looking for a good buddy for your home and back yard, he may be just the best friend for you. He's fun-loving and likes to play with toys. He doesn't jump up on counters or the table, or get on the furniture. Plus he keeps an eye out on the neighborhood, and barks to let you know if someone comes by. He wasn't having any bathroom accidents during the 5 days he was in his second foster home. Going outside his comfort zone makes him anxious. So if you want him to take walks with you, you'll need to spend some time helping him and encouraging him. He'll need some time and patience. But he's worth it. A shelter setting is stressful for all dogs, but it makes poor Tom Sawyer especially nervous. Keep that in mind if you visit him at RAL. He's relaxes more in a home setting. He's been in 2 RAL foster homes. Both found him to be a fun guy to have around once he'd had a couple days to settle in. Please contact [email protected] to set up a time to meet Tom Sawyer in person. You'll be glad you did! For more information on Tom: Phone: 804-379-0046 Email: [email protected] The Richmond Animal League (RAL) is the area’s oldest non-profit “no-kill” organization committed to reducing the homeless pet population in the Richmond area. Founded in 1979, RAL provides temporary housing, medical treatment, sterilization, and quality care to over 1,700 companion animals each year until they are adopted into permanent and loving homes.
