BCAC MPASS Weekly News for Residents on the Go

Open for play! A new amenity for Brandermill families The Harbour Pointe Playground, located in the Harbour Pointe Clubhouse and Pool complex, is finished and open for play. Despite recent rainy weather, maintenance crews worked tirelessly to complete the project for sunnier weather. The structure’s design and colors were chosen to blend with it’s surroundings. A picnic table was added just outside of the fence for families to picnic under the cool shade. What was once under utilized open space will now be filled with laughing children.

Daughters of Lisa Pelfrey and Christy Spence were the first to play on the new playground.

Eagle Scout Project

Committee seeks support for effort The Community Appearance and Maintenance committee (CAM) is presently working with Eagle Scout candidate Elijah Strickler to create four wildlife identification and information displays in Brandermill. Each display will have three rotating panels depicting wildlife indigenous to Brandermill including birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. Each panel will also include a QR barcode that will provide additional information about the wildlife depicted. Three of the displays will be located at Sunday Park, and one will be located at The Landing boat launch. It is anticipated that the displays will be completed by mid-summer. As part of the funding for this project, BCA offers residents the opportunity to sponsor a display for $250. As a display sponsor, your name will appear on a plaque

Four wildlife identification displays will be installed.

on the display. In addition, residents may make a donation to this project. For additional information about becoming a display sponsor or making a donation to the project, please contact Danny Ramsey at 744-1035x4000.

Residential Brush Pick-up Schedule Zone 3 in the Residential Brush Pickup schedule will begin Monday morning, May 16. When the crew has completed the residential pickup for the week, they will continue efforts on open space clean up between Three Bridges and Sagegrove that have been hampered by inclement weather.

Be wary of unscrupulous contractors Residents are reminded that you should know the people that you employ for all home repair and yard work projects. Be wary of people that just “show up” and offer to do yard work or home repairs. They may offer cheaper prices but will often perform a less than stellar job. Here are a few tips to remember: Don’t do business at your front door. A reputable contractor will want to schedule an appointment and discuss the work they are to perform. They will have a vehicle with proper signage and business cards. Get several quotes. Obtain recent references. Check with people who have had work done by the same company. Verify their licensing. Anyone can slap a fake registration number on a truck or business card. You can check a license and registration through the Department of Consumer Protection. Get everything in writing. You should receive a written estimate that includes materials, their cost, estimated cost of labor and all verbal promises. Just remember, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
