ABOUT THE DIRECTOR Coach Stoltzfus was the manager for the Norchester Bulldogs Sr. Legion baseball team for 14 seasons. Over those years, he has managed to compile 347 wins overall with 214 of those wins earned in arguably the toughest league (Chester County) in all of Pennsylvania Legion Baseball. Coach Stoltzfus guided his teams to the playoffs in every season but his first, and they were recognized as one of the top Legion baseball programs in the entire state. Norchester experienced their greatest successes between the 2006 and 2009 seasons. In 2006 the Bulldogs were the Chester County League Champions, Region 3 Champions, State Runner-up, and went on to play in the Great Lakes National Regional in Evansville, Indiana. They finished that season with a record of 33-11. The 2007 season was almost a mirror image of the previous. The Bulldogs finished as runner-up for the Chester County League crown, once again won the Region 3 tournament, finished second in the state tournament and went back to the Great Lakes National Regional tournament, held in Mennominee, Michigan. The Bulldogs managed to win three games at the National level (two wins away from the World Series) and finished the season with a gaudy 36-15 overall record. In 2008, the team finished with a record of 30-11. They once again were crowned Chester County League Champions and for the third year in a row were the Region 3 Champions. Their run ended in the State Tournament. The 2009 season was coach Stoltzfus’ last as manager. The team won the league and Region 3 titles for a fourth straight year and entered the State Tournament on a 29 game win streak. Despite solid play, the team fell one game short of another trip to the National Regionals. The team finished with an overall record of 36-4. The four losses were by a combined five runs. Coach Stoltzfus helped to guide OJR’s 2010 team to a runner-up finish in the PIAA-4A State Championships. He currently serves as President of the Norchester Youth Athletic Association and remains active in coaching by giving private lessons. He is presently the Assistant Principal at Owen J. Roberts Middle School. He lives in North Coventry with his wife and three sons.
