 Players CANNOT play in both the competitive and recreational leagues for a single sport  Players CANNOT play on 2 men’s or 2 women’s teams or 2 coed teams  CURRENT-ACADEMIC YEAR COLLEGE BASKETBALL athletes CANNOT play IM basketball  FORMER COLLEGE VARSITY basketball athletes can play in either Rec or Comp divisions, but a max of 1 is allowed on any Rec basketball roster  One coed team + one women’s/men’s team = OK  Games with ineligible players will be FORFEITED

 Contact them directly to pick up players

 Players must be on the online roster to be legal players.  If a player is NOT on the score sheet because: 1. Joined after 3pm, or 2. Technical difficulty, or 3. Just got picked up by the team that night, then: They can be written-in. Score sheets and online rosters will then be compared 2 business days later at 5:00pm. (Once a player checksin for a team they are a member of that team) Write-ins from the score sheet that are NOT on the online roster by that time will be considered illegal players, and the match result will be changed to a forfeit. (Even if the game is won by forfeit).  Players cannot be deleted/removed from rosters by captains or players. Please contact IM office to do this. – Email/phone/inperson  Rosters are locked after your last regular season match.

 Game time is forfeit time  If one team has players present, but not enough to start a game, the prepared team has the following options: 1. Take the win by forfeit, OR 2. Give your opponent an additional 5 minutes to field an eligible team

 Forfeits count worse than losses  Sp. rating of 1

 2 FF = eliminated from playoffs

(and possibly from the league)

 Must contact IM office (email, phone, or in-person) by 12pm day of match (or Friday, for weekend matches)  Worse than a loss in standings, but better than a FF  Sp. Rating of 2

3 = Above Average 2 = Average 1 = Below Average 0 = Unacceptable

Must Maintain A 2.0 Average  Teams receiving a 1 or 0 must meet with IMTo Staff Be Eligible & before next match. Advance Through Playoffs

 For contact sports (basketball included), players CANNOT wear jewelry  Covering jewelry with tape or bandage is NOT PERMITTED  PENALTY =  “Intentional Foul”  2 shots and ball  Count toward player and team foul count

5-on-5 Max roster size = 10 Minimum needed to play = 3 Coed rules:  Difference between genders on court cannot be greater than 1  Opposing teams’ line-up don’t have to match  Captains decide if men or women will jump, and what size ball will be used  When they disagree on men’s or women’s ball, WOMEN’S ball will be selected by officials  Subs must check in at table and be waived in by officials    

 Two 20-minute running clock halves  Clock stops in the last 2 minutes of 2nd half on all whistles  NOT on made baskets  Four 30-second time outs per game  Mercy Rule: 20-pt. differential any time at/after 2 minutes left in 2nd half  Overtime = 2-minute, stop clock period  2nd overtime = 2-pt. margin sudden victory

 High school free throw rules: Players in marked lane spaces may enter lane on release (NEW)  Player/team fouls (5, 7, 10)  Time outs never move the ball up the court. Point of Interruption  Top, bottom and sides of the backboard are in-bounds  Made baskets don’t stop the clock at the end of the game

 All regular season games will be played in Moby Aux gym.  Only players listed on score sheet allowed down on court level  All other people must be up in bleachers RIM RESTRICTION RULE: In order to respect and preserve the facility and equipment, players are not permitted to grab or snap the rim outside of regular game play. This will result in: 1. Player technical foul 2. Lowered sportsmanship rating for that night’s game, and 5-point penalty being assessed either in that or the next game.

 Player not reporting their number to scorekeeper  Player dunking/grabbing rim outside of the game (T will carry over to next game if after game)  Unsporting conduct

 2 unsporting technical fouls = PLAYER EJECTION  3 unsp. Technical fouls by a team in a game = FORFEIT  Ejected person:  Must leave the GYM & BLEACHERS  Suspended from ALL IM’s minimum of 1 week  Must meet with IM Sports professional staff to discuss lifting suspension  Playoff ejection: Automatically suspended from remainder of that sport’s playoffs (across all divisions)  Depending on severity of incident, Student Recreation Center membership/access may also be suspended  NOTE: Teams CAN receive technical fouls for their fans’ behavior

2 TYPES OF PROTESTS 1. Misapplication/ misinterpretation of a rule. *Protest—Time of ruling before the ball next becomes live 2. Player Eligibility *Before start of 2nd Half/after game if checked in after 1st half.
