Dear Parent / Carer As you aware, I wrote to you recently with the headline judgement from our recent Ofsted inspection. Langtree continues to be a very good school, judged to be on the cusp of outstanding. Although we are still awaiting publication of our report, we have received verbal feedback following the inspection and work is already underway to plan for developments in key areas. As Ofsted stated in a previous report ‘There is no resting on laurels here’, and in that very same spirit we are keen to draw up strategic plans immediately in order to secure further improvements. Consequently, I am planning a conference for all of our middle leaders to allow them to work on the post Ofsted agenda, and this will take place on Monday 19th June. We will work together on the day and through into the evening. This will also be a very valuable opportunity for our new Deputy and Assistant Headteachers to join the middle leaders, so that they can contribute to the strategic planning which they will be accountable for delivering from September. However, in order to release all of our middle leaders to undertake this additional work, it will not be possible to run all of the timetabled school sessions. I am therefore proposing that Langtree will have an early closure on Monday 19th June, and that students will be sent home after lunchtime at 2.00pm. The morning lessons will run as normal, but there will be no periods 5 or 6. School transport will be rescheduled for 2.00pm. I do hope that I can count on your understanding and support for this decision. As the inspection fell after the last of our planned INSET days, this is the only way in which we can plan effectively for the changes we would like to effect in September. I do hope that this early closure will be a very small price to pay for the improvements we hope to achieve as we look to secure an Outstanding judgement overall in our next Ofsted inspection. Please do check the Langtree School website and bulletin for further information and reminders regarding the early closure. Yours sincerely Mr R Holroyd Headteacher Tel: 01491 680514
