14th July 2015 Dear Parent/Carer We have had lots of positive feedback from the two, successful, Transition Days for students joining us in September. I am now writing to summarise arrangements for the start of the next academic year, confirm the timings of the academy day, revisit the uniform requirements and provide term dates for 2015 – 2016. Full details of the curriculum, and other important information, were provided in the “Year 6 Information Evening” booklet which was given out at the Information Evening in April and posted home for those parents and carers who were unable to attend. If you have not had a copy of this booklet, please contact the academy to request one. Tuesday the 1st of September and Wednesday the 2nd of September are INSET Days so students will start on Thursday the 3rd of September. On Thursday the 3rd, Year 7 students need to be in school and ready for the 1st session at 0845. They will be the only students in school until 0915 and will meet their Tutor and have a tour to remind them of key places they need to be able to find during Period 1 and Period 2. There will be a House Assembly for students in Atlas and Callisto at 1015, students in Europa and Titan will remain with tutors. Break will be from 1045 to 1105 and Year 7 students’ first lesson will start at 1105. Year 7 will be allowed to leave Period 4 early, at 1245, and will have a longer lunch than normal for this first day. At 1345 there will be a House Assembly for Europa and Titan and students in Atlas and Callisto will remain with tutors.
