Carers, As you are

16th February 2018 Dear Parents/Carers, As you are aware, our Year 11s pupils are working hard in order to prepare for their final exams. Attendance at revision is high and feedback about these sessions is positive. In order to support your child further, we would like to run a ‘Super Science Saturday’. The aim is twofold. Firstly, they would take part in revision sessions in the morning (focusing on preparation for their Science exam). Secondly, we want them to have an opportunity to spend some quality time with their friends in the afternoon. With this in mind, we would like to invite your child to attend the day on Saturday 17th March. They would need to arrive at school for 9.15am. They would spend time in school in the morning working on the above mentioned. At 12.30pm, we would then transport them to Skirmish Paintballing Centre (Redditch) to take part in an afternoon session. They would return to school at 4.30pm approximately. The cost for the day would be £22.00. This would include 3 hours of paintballing, safety equipment and transportation to the venue. If they wished lunch to be included at the paintball venue, an additional £3 would be required. There will be a cost of £5 for families in receipt of Pupil Premium for this event. I am fully aware that you have received recent correspondence regarding costings for prom and other ‘Leavers’ items. With this in mind, a deposit may be paid with the remainder of the balance for this event due later on in the term - 27th April 2018. If your child wishes to take part, please make a deposit payment of £10 via ParentPay AND complete the attached consent form. Although staff will accompany the pupils to the event, we cannot hold any responsibility for injuries at the venue. A full safety briefing will take part and necessary safety equipment will be provided. Further details of clothing requirements will be provided when we have confirmed places. Please note only 50 places are available for the event and a pupil’s behaviour and attendance to school will be considered before the final 50 are chosen. Please also note that, to take part in paintballing, pupils must attend the morning Science revision session. If behaviour affects the learning of others in the morning, we reserve the right to decline the invitation to attend the afternoon session. If your child only wishes to attend the revision session, there will be no payment required. To confirm this arrangement please email Mrs A Page at [email protected]. Final confirmation of those selected for this will be made by the 2nd March - please ensure deposits have been paid by then. Yours sincerely,
