Charter Community School 7-12 News

Positive opportunities to become involved, including a very active student government program.

Career Preparation, including a wonderful Work-Ready Certificate Program.

Greetings CCS Families and Friends, While I despise beginning a newsletter with less than great news, it is with sadness that I announce the retirement of Mr. Pat Caldie. Pat has been a longtime teacher at CCS, nearly 17 years, and will be sorely missed. Besides teaching numerous courses during his tenure at CCS including Social Studies and English, Pat also was in charge of many favorite activities such as the annual Fall Festival and Student Government. Pat has assured staff and students he will still be around to help wherever he can.

We appreciate your support and partnership in helping our students and your children become active learners and responsible young adults. It is important that you are an active part of your child’s education and as always our doors are open and you, as parents and guardians, have an open invitation on campus. If you have any comments, questions, or observations we can be reached at 530-295-2259 during business hours or please feel free to leave a message. Thank you for the trust you place in us with the education of your children. Mr.

How To Find Ways To Motivate Students To Stay In School 1. Participate in your child's school life. As a parent, getting involved in your child's school, from the early years of kindergarten to high school graduation, will let your child know that you are interested in their academic progress. 2. Stay positive. Parents and teachers alike should maintain a positive outlook on any complications your student may face. 3. Be realistic. If you are setting goals or expectations for your student, be realistic. If you are dealing with a failing student, set a goal for them to become a "C" student. Praise them for their effort. 4. Offer incentives. Incentives are wonderful motivators. For a high school student, perhaps offer to buy them a car if they stay in school or plan on taking a once-in-a-lifetime vacation following high school graduation. 5. Stay informed. Do not allow your student to "slack off." Stay informed with their academic progress by maintaining communication between the school and home. Hold your student accountable for bad choices and reward them for good ones. http://www.ehow.com/how_4576894_motivating-students-stay-school.html
