“Every creator painfully experiences the chasm between his inner vision and its ultimate expression.” - Isaac Bashevis Singer

Day Four Assignment: Consider these questions ... and remember, there are no right or wrong answers: 1. On a scale of one to ten, how successful are you at taking the ideas in your head and interpreting them creatively? 2. What is your biggest obstacle to creativity? Time, skill set, software ... something else? Is there more than one? 3. Are you a perfectionist? If so, in what way? 4. How do you generally handle creative challenges? Do you keep going until you feel “unstuck,” or do you give up, delete the file and shut down the computer? 5. Do you like to try new things, or do you feel more comfortable sticking to the tried and true? 6. How are you at improvising? Can you “make do” if you need to, or change direction in order to pursue your goals? 7. What are you most afraid of, from a creative standpoint? Name that fear. Ask yourself these questions, and write the answers down: 1. What are two steps I can take immediately to begin to overcome creative perfectionism? 2. What benefits will result in reducing my tendency toward perfectionism? A quick challenge ... Set a timer for 30 minutes. Give yourself about 7 minutes to choose ONE PHOTO and ONE DIGITAL SCRAPBOOKING KIT from your collection. Then use the remaining 23 minutes to put together a 12x12 layout. It does not have to be perfect... spectacular, or even complete! Just do what you can within the time limit provided. At the end of the 30 minutes, stop. Take a look at your layout, whether it’s finished or not, and assess what you’ve done. Write down your feelings about what you created. For every negative aspect you write down, you must list two positive aspects.
