Knowing Christ, Sharing Christ.
Do you know a story teller? If you know Jesus, you know a story teller. What does it take to be a story teller? Some of you in the past have been story tellers. When your parents asked you, “Where did you go last night?”...did you tell a story? Lest some of you get the wrong impression, story telling can be telling fiction or can be telling the truth. Jesus told stories to teach people lessons about God and life. Evangelism is telling a story of good news. Many people are scared of the term evangelism. To some it means going out and knocking on doors to invite people to church. To others it means an opportunity to tell others how they have encountered Christ and what changes He has made in their life. One explanation of evangelism is one starving man telling another starving man where you can find bread… the bread of life...Jesus. In the Gospel of John (John 1:43-46) we have the story of Jesus calling to Philip to “follow me”. Philip goes to Nathaniel and tells Nathaniel that “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law and about whom the prophet also wrote— Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” Philip heard the call of Christ on his life and went to include Nathaniel in sharing of the Good News. As a continuing part of our journey in making disciples, our emphasis in May is to “Tell our Story” 10 times. In preparing to tell your story, think of how Jesus has impacted your life and begin to share Jesus with others. As you pray this month, ask Jesus to help you share your story...not only in church or Sunday School but also when you are out with friends or sharing on facebook or twitter. Our stories may not be perfect, for none of us are perfect. May God’s grace sustain you. Pastor Steve
