Regulations & Information for All Exhibitors (a) Entry Fees - £6:00 for 5 entries. 50p for each additional entry
Junior classes £3.00 for 5 entries. 50p for each additional entry There is no limit to the number of entries per exhibitor. Entry fees must be included with application form. Official entry form must be used, photocopies are acceptable. (b) Cancellation of entries - If you are unable to exhibit please advise Amanda Taylor as soon as possible and no later than seven days before the Show. (c) Conditions of entry - An Exhibitor may not enter or stage more than one exhibit in the same class. The same exhibit may not be entered in more than one class. Exhibitors may not substitute one entry for another. (d) Strictly no entries accepted after the closing date. (e) Staging Passes - Passes will be sent out with your class confirmation letter. (f) Car Parking Pass can be purchased for the special price £3:50. Limited to one per exhibitor. (g) Exhibitor’s Packs – Containing:- Exhibit Cards, Removal Ticket, Single use Show Ticket, Removal Car Park Pass, paid Car Park Pass. These may be collected from the Flower Show office from 12 noon on Tuesday until 10:00am on Wednesday the week of the Show. After this they will be available from the relevant Marquee. Please ensure Exhibit Card details are correct, as exhibits staged without the appropriate card will be disqualified. Judging, Prizes & Trophies Prize Money - Prize monies paid by cheque by the end of September. Trophies – Trophies may be collected from the Flower Show office after midday on the first day of the Show. Trophies must be returned to the office each night and collected the next morning. The Trophy Award Card must be presented when claiming a trophy. All trophies removed from the Showground must be insured for the full cost of replacement. A copy of the insurance document must be presented at the Flower Show office prior to removal. Arrangements must not be made to engrave Trophies or Plinths. Trophies must be returned, undamaged & in a clean condition, to Southport Flower Show by the 31st May of the following year. The Daily Mirror Trophy - The Daily Mirror "Xenia Field" Silver Perpetual Trophy will be st awarded to the best exhibit entered by an amateur aged under 21 years on the 1 day of the show. Exhibitors wishing to be considered for this award must complete the relevant section of the application with their date of birth. Concerns - Any concerns regarding judging must be made in writing and handed to the General Manager at the Flower Show office before 12:00 noon on the first day of the Show. Judging – The Judge’s Decision is final. Feedback from judges will be available at 11:00am on the first day of the show, at the manager’s office in the Amateur Marquee. Forfeiture of Prize Money - Any Exhibitor obtaining or attempting to obtain a prize fraudulently will forfeit the whole of any prize money they may otherwise be entitled to. Results - Results will be published on the website by 6:00pm on the first day of the show. Please do not call the office before 6:00pm. Health & Safety – please refer to SFS Health & Safety Guide Dogs - Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times and owners must clean up after them. Bins are located throughout the showground. Dogs are NOT allowed in the catering or food marquees (with the exception of official assistance dogs). Vehicles - All vehicles entering the Showground must display the appropriate Vehicle Pass, with all details completed. Vehicles are not allowed inside the Marquees at any time. There is a strict 5 mph speed limit. No Smoking/Vaping – Smoking/Vaping is strictly prohibited in all marquees. Fire Precautions- Nothing of an inflammable or explosive nature must be brought to the Showground. The use of naked lights or primus type stoves is strictly prohibited. Definitions The words ‘kind’ & ‘cultivar’ are used in the following sense: Sweet Peas, Roses, Carnations etc. are distinct ‘kinds’ of flowers. “Fragrant Cloud”, “Peace”, “Superstar”, are distinct ‘cultivars’ of Roses. An “Amateur” is a person who grows plants, fruits or vegetables solely for enjoyment or for the domestic use of the produce, and that they must not be growing for only “pecuniary advantage” and must have grown or owned the plant/s for, at least 6 months. No Nurseryman, Seedsman, Florist, Market Gardeners, nor their assistants or employees who grow or advertise garden or orchard produce for the purpose of sale can show as amateurs or gardeners.

Amateur Growers The Amateur Gardening Trophy All 1st prize winners in each individual championship class are judged to determine an overall champion. The Champion of Champions will be awarded The Amateur Gardening Trophy (A02) and £100 prize money. Signage Exhibitors may not re-name any plants, flowers etc. which already have a recognized name. Trade/business cards or any advertising material must not be displayed near the exhibits. Final Day Sell Off & Break Down Society Bureau exhibits can be sold off at 4:00pm. Exhibits can be collected from 4:15pm on production of a Removal Ticket. The Removal Ticket will allow entry to the Showground from 4:00pm only. All benches should be cleared by 5:45pm. Any remaining exhibits will be recycled. Vehicles will only be permitted to enter the Showground upon announcement from the show organisers. General Conditions
Quality and cultural skill will be the basis of judgement. There is no restriction on the size of pot or other container used in these classes. Each plant or undivided clump must be placed in a separate pot or container. Exhibitors are reminded that the staging is 1m deep. Awards The Happiland Trophy (A102) will be awarded to the competitor winning the greatest number of 1st prizes in Classes 6 - 10. In the event of a tie, the trophy will be withheld. The British Pteridological Society Trophy (A10) will be awarded with the first prize in class 5

Classes 12 – 25 - the wiring of individual blooms in classes 12 - 25 is not permitted. Carnation or Pink foliage only may be used. Except where otherwise stated, one variety only may be staged in a vase. The Regulations of The Rose Society UK regarding exhibitions will apply to these classes in so far as they do not conflict with the General and Competitive Regulations in this Schedule. (Any prize or prizes including trophies or medals, may at the judges' discretion, be withheld or modified if exhibits are considered undeserving of the prize or prizes offered. Honey Regulations
Exhibits must be bona fide property of the exhibitor, and all hive products shown must be the produce of the exhibitor’s own bees. Wax must be rendered and prepared by the exhibitor. No two or more persons may exhibit produce from the same Apiary in any class other than in partnership. Labels Small adhesive labels will be sent to exhibitors by Southport Flower Show except in class 249, where an exhibit card will suffice. Jar Labels should be fixed half an inch from the bottom of the jar. Cut Comb Honey and Shallow Frame Labels should be fixed on front, top right hand corner. Exhibits must not bear any other mark or label except in Classes 244, 245, 248, 249, 260 and 269. Staging Exhibitors to stage their own exhibits. Jars/Containers/Weight Comb Honey ,Cut Comb Honey must be shown in standard transparent 227g (8oz) containers with transparent snap-on tops and must have a gross weight of between 200g and 255g (7-9oz). All extracted Honey must be exhibited in plain squat honey jars (except in 249, 263 & 270) which must be of uniform size and shape in each exhibit, with secure, easily removable covers, to the satisfaction of the Judges. Weights of wax specified in the schedule are subject to a tolerance of +/- 10%. Awards The Cook Trophy (A48) will be awarded for the best exhibit of Light Honey in the Show. The Southport and District Beekeepers Trophy (A52) will be awarded for the best exhibit of Dark Honey in the show. The Rush Trophy (A6) will be awarded for the best exhibit of Heather Honey in the Show. The Bradley Trophy (A63) will be awarded for the best exhibit of Mead in the Show. The Randall Trophy (A25) will be awarded for the best exhibit of Honey in the Show. A Blue Ribbon Award, offered jointly by the BBKA and the National Honey Show, will be awarded at judges' discretion to the Best Exhibit in the Honey section. The Burnett-Hughes Trophy (A121) will be awarded for the best exhibit by a member of Southport and Formby Beekeepers in the Honey section. The Alderman S E Charlton Trophy (A56) will be awarded with the first prize in class 267.

Honey Cake, Made to the following recipe: 200g SR flour, 180g local Honey, 150g butter, 90g soft brown sugar, 1 tablespoon water and 2 beaten eggs. Melt butter, sugar and honey. Cool, add water, eggs and flour. Bake in a round tin not to exceed 20cm in a medium oven for approximately 40 minutes Creative Cookery, A loaf of bread, sweet or savoury, containing local honey. Recipe to be submitted and may be published by Southport Beekeepers Ten 28g Cakes of Beeswax Two 454g Jars Honey, Any one variety. Jars labeled as for retail. The small label bearing the Exhibitor's number to be affixed to the back of the jars. 2 Beeswax Candles. A matching pair.
