Configuring eduroam on Windows 7 This will explain how to configure eduroam on a Windows 7 device. 1. Click on the Network Manager icon (looks like little stair steps) in the System Tray (located in the lower right hand corner). 2. You should see a listing of WLU networks (specifically "eduroam"). 3. Click on "eduroam". Ensure that "Connect automatically" is checked and click the "Connect" button.

4. A box will pop up asking for your credentials, this is your network username with the suffix @wlu.ca, and password. With the “@wlu.ca” suffix, you can use your Laurier credentials to connect to the wireless network at other institutions who are member of eduroam, eg: University of Waterloo.

5. After entering your credentials, another box will appear explaining that the security certificate cannot be verified. ITS 2014

If you didn’t see the security alert popup, please skip to step 8 for connecting to Eduroam manually. a. Click the arrow box to view the "Details".

b. Ensure that the "Radius server" field reads: eduroam.wlu.ca c. Ensure that the "Root CA" field reads: Entrust.net Certification Authority (2048) d. Click the "Connect" button. (You might be prompted for credential again if you didn’t click the connect quickly enough) e. Depending on your location you may see one of two certificates (Radius Server: eduroam.wlu.ca or NAC.wlu.ca). Both are valid servers.

6. You should now be connected to eduroam. Windows may ask you to set a "Network Location". For this, select "Public network".

7. Verify your connection to "eduroam" by clicking on the wireless icon in your system tray.

8. If you still cannot connect to Eduroam, please following the steps below to setup Eduroam manually. a. Click on the Network Manager icon (looks like little stair steps) in the System Tray (located in the lower right hand corner). b. Click on Open Network and Sharing Center. c. Click on Manage wireless networks. d. If a connection “eduroam” exist, remove it first. Click “eduroam”, then click Remove. e. Click Add f. Click Manually create a network profile g. Enter the following information.

h. Click Next i. Click Change connection settings. j. Click Security tab, make sure the network authentication method is set to “Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)”. k. Click Setting button l. Uncheck “Validate server certificate”, and make sure the authentication method is set to “Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)”.

m. Click Configure button n. Uncheck “Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)”.

Click OK three times Click Close. Try to connect to eduroam again. If it prompt you for certificate, please refer to step 5 to continue. Otherwise, it will prompt you for credentials, this is your Network username with the suffix @wlu.ca, and password. Page 6
