Market Theme European stocks erased early losses to close little changed as positive economic data in the region offset negative sentiment following a slump in Chinese equities. Asian shares hovered below their 10yr peak while mainland Chinese shares dropped to 3 month lows after big falls the previous day on concerns about fresh Government steps to curb financial risks & an ongoing rout in the Chinese bond market
Chart of the Day Chinese regulators may be growing concerned about the country's rising margin debt after it increased for six straight months. Outstanding margin debt on local stock exchanges climbed above 1 trillion yuan ($152bln) for the first time in almost 2 years this month, posing a risk to market stability.
