Corvias ECAC Baseball Players of the Week (for week ending April 27, 2014) Division I New England Player of the Week Danny Mendick – University of Massachusetts Lowell Junior, Shorstop, Rochester, NY Mendick hit .500 (8-of-16) with two home runs and nine RBI as UMass Lowell went 4-0 last week. He also finished with a .526 on-base percentage and a .938 slugging percentage. The nine RBI tied him for the best in the league last week while his .500 batting average tied for third. Mendick drove in atleast one run in each of the four games and had three multi-hit games and scored nine runs to lead the America East last week.

Pitcher of the Week Steven Moyers – University of Rhode Island Freshman, East Longmeadow, Mass.

Moyers put together a strong performance against VC U, earning his first win of the season in the form of a complete game shutout - the first of his career. Through nine complete frames, he allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out five. Moyers never faced more than four batters in an inning. After giving up a leadoff double in the second, he did not allow another hit until the top of the ninth.

Division I Metro-Upstate Co-Players of the Week Brett Siddall – Canisius College Sophomore, Outfield, Windsor, Ontario In six C anisius wins, Siddall went 10-for-20 with 12 RBI and posted a .560 on-base percentage to go along with a .700 slugging percentage. Siddall set a career high with five RBI in a win over Buffalo on Tuesday. The sophomore outfielder also led off the ninth-inning rally against Youngstown State on Wednesday, with an HBP and scored the game-tying run. Siddall had four games with multiple hits and multiple RBIs, including five hits and four RBI in the doubleheader sweep of Marist on Sunday. Zach Lauricella – St. John’s University Junior, Outfield, Buffalo, NY Lauricella hit .529 (9-for-17) during a 4-0 week for the Red Storm, including an 8-for-13 (.615) showing in a three-game sweep of conference foe Georgetown. Drove in seven RBI and scored six times against the Hoyas.

Pitcher of the Week Josh Prevost – Seton Hall University Senior, Belle Mead, NJ Prevost had another dominant outing Friday, tossing his fourth complete game of the season. He allowed just two hits while fanning a career-best 13 batters en route to his second shutout of the season, a 10-0 victory against Villanova. He lowered his ERA to a conference-best 1.48 and is 9-1 on the season.

Division I South Player of the Week Kurt Wertz – Towson University Senior, Outfield,South Williamsport, Pa. Wertz batted .476 (10-21) with two doubles, a triple, four home runs, nine runs scored and 15 RBI’s in Towson’s 3-2 week. The senior outfielder hit three tworun homers and drove in seven in the Tigers’ 15-12 victory over JMU last Friday and belted a grand slam and had seven RBI’s in a 13-9 win over George Mason last Tuesday. His 15 total bases and three homers against JMU tied Towson records. The effort also earned him Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week accolades from C ollegiate Baseball.

Pitcher of the Week Eric Bauer – College of Charleston Sophomore, Longwood, Fla. Bauer went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA last week, allowing just three hits and no runs over 9.1 innings while striking out eight. The sophomore left-hander scattered three hits and fanned a career-best six batters over 6.2 shutout innings in a start against Georgia Southern last Wednesday. On Sunday, he didn’t allow a hit in 2.2 innings of relief as the C ougars topped Bethune-C ookman 3-2 in 11 innings.

Division II Player of the Week Dan Popio – Mercyhurst University Sophomore, Designated Hitter, Youngstown, Ohio

Popio registered at least one hit in five of the Lakers' six games during the week. He batted .611, recording 11 hits in 18 at bats, with six of his hits going for extra bases. He scored 11 runs and drove in 10 in the six games and led the Lakers in slugging percentage (.944) and in on-base percentage (.720). He reached base 18 times in 25 plate appearances during the week. In the sweep of IUP on Tuesday, Popio went 4-for-4 with two walks, four runs scored, and five RBI in game one and then went 1-for-3 with three more RBI in game two. He either scored a run or drove in a run in all six games during the week.

Co-Pitchers of the Week Rocco Cundari – Southern Connecticut State University Senior, Norwalk, Conn. C undari allowed zero earned runs in his two starts, both complete game victories, this past week. The righthander struck out 16 over his two wins and scattered six hits in each as the Owls earned a 2-0 win over Le Moyne on April 21 and a 2-1 victory at Saint Rose on April 26. Jon Klein – Mercyhurst Unviersity Junior, Cheektowaga, NY Klein tossed his first complete-game shutout of the season, allowing just one hit and two walks against Slippery Rock to help Mercyhurst lock-up the West's No. 2 seed. He lost his no-hit bid with two outs in the sixth inning on a clean single to left field. He pitched to one batter over the minimum in the win with striking out eight.

Division III New England Player of the Week Rafael Garcia – Mitchell College Junior, Third Base, New Britain, Conn. Garcia swung a hot bat and helped the Mariners to a 3-0 record last week, including two big wins over Lesley in league play. The junior third baseman batted .700 for the week and had multiple hits in all three games, finishing with three doubles, a homer, five RBI and five runs scored while slugging 1.300 for the week. In the opener against Lesley he swatted two doubles and knocked in a pair of runs, and in the finale he plated three runs and drilled his first home run of the season.

Pitcher of the Week Kevin Kwedor – Massachusetts Maritime Academy Sophomore, Marshfield, Mass. Kwedor threw 25th perfect game in NC AA Division III history (and first in program's history) by retiring all 21 batters faced in Buccaneers' 4-0 victory over MC LA. He struck out six while inducing seven ground ball outs and eight fly ball outs in throwing 60 of 89 pitches for strikes. Kwedor also went distance in scattering seven hits and fanning four in 1-0 setback to Framingham State.

Division III Metro Player of the Week Nick Yip – College at Old Westbury Junior, Outfield, Elmhurst, NY Yip smashed five home runs and knocked in 11 in a 5-1 week for Old Westbury as the Panthers clinched their first Skyline regular season crown in program annals…was 10-for-25 with seven runs scored. He added three walks, two doubles and a triple with a slugging percentage of 1.160 and went 3-for-3 with three home runs and five RBI in an 11-1 victory over Maritime on April 26. Yip had two homers on Apr. 23 in the Panthers' 6-4 win versus Lehman. He also had a career-best four hits in a 13-2 victory against Baruch on April 24.

Pitcher of the Week Tim Ingram – College at Old Westbury Junior, Westbury, NY Ingram notched a pair of complete game victories while allowing just two runs on six hits in 16 innings pitched as Old Westbury secured the program's first Skyline regular season title. He yielded one run on two hits over nine innings on April 21 while fanning 11 in the Panthers' 3-1 win over St. Joseph's-L.I. Ingram struck out 11 and scattered four hits on Apr. 26 as OW earned an 11-1 victory over SUNY Maritime and issued three walks while holding opposing hitters to a .115 batting average on the week.

Division III Upstate Player of the Week Tim LeSuer – Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Junior, Oak View, Calif. LeSuer led the Engineers to a 6-0 week, including a 4-0 mark in Liberty League play. He hit a team-best .545 (12 for 22), with a triple, nine runs scored and 10 runs batted in. C ompiling a .636 slugging percentage and a .655 on-base percentage, he stole a team-high four bases in four tries.

Pitcher of the Week Sean Larson – Fredonia State Senior, Angola, NY Larson tossed a pair of nine-inning, complete-game victories over a pair of conference teams this past week. On Saturday, he threw a six hitter in a 3-1 win over No. 6 C ortland State. Prior to that, on Monday, he spun a four-hit shutout over Oneonta. His totals were 18 innings pitched, 2-0 record, 2 complete games, 0.50 ERA ,13 strikeouts, 2 walks and 10 hits. Larson lowered his SUNYAC -leading ERA to 1.14.

Division III South Co-Players of the Week Jordan Swope – Penn State Altoona Junior, Outfield, State College, Pa. Swope went on a tear last week, helping the Lions to three wins, including splits with AMC C opponents Pitt-Greensburg and Pitt-Bradford, to secure a spot in the post-season. For the week, he batted .550 (11-for-20) with four doubles, one home run, seven RBI, and eight runs scored. He also walked three times and stole one base. Swope's on-base percentage for the week was .609, and he slugged .900. He posted multi-hit games in three of his five contests in the week. Joe Forcellini – Centenary College Junior, Shortstop/Leftfield, Hatfield, Pa. Forcellini batted .692, recording a trio of three-hit games, with an on-base percentage of .706 during three games last week. He upped his team-leading home run total to four with a pair of dingers, while knocking in four runs and scoring five times. Forcellini owns 16 multi-hit games and a team-high .448 batting average this spring.

Co-Pitchers of the Week Justin Rohrer – Penn State Behrend Freshman, Harrisbury, Pa. On Saturday, the freshman earned the save in Behrend's game one-doubleheader victory over Pitt-Greensburg. His day wasn't over, as he then hurled a complete-game in the Lions’ 9-2 win in the night cap. Rohrer also earned a save in Behrend's 6-5 victory over Houghton on Monday afternoon. Rohrer leads the AMC C with a 0.92 ERA in 29.1 innings of work and his three saves are tied for first in the conference. He has struck-out 19 and walked just five thus far in 2014. Connor Shockley – Salisbury University Sophomore, Salisbury, Md.

Shockley pitched a seven-inning shutout performance against Stevenson on Sunday. Shockley scattered four hits and struck out six batters in his seven innings of work to earn the victory.
