CRIME STOPPERS URGES RESIDENTS TO DOB IN A DEALER Time is up for drug dealers in Warrnambool, with Crime Stoppers Victoria calling on local residents to report information about those manufacturing and distributing crystal methylamphetamine (‘ice’) and other illicit drugs. The call comes as part of the Crime Stoppers Dob in a Dealer program, which is being rolled out across regional Victoria to aid in the detection and disruption of drugs being supplied throughout the state. Crime Stoppers will be targeting the Warrnambool area for a two week intensive Dob in a Dealer campaign from Friday 10 April to gather information about local drug dealing activity. Residents are urged to contact Crime Stoppers for a confidential discussion if they have any information relating to people who may be bringing harmful drugs into the local community. “We know that drugs like crystal methylamphetamine are of serious concern in Warrnambool and in other regional communities across Victoria,” Crime Stoppers Victoria Community Manager Peter Brown said. “Drugs can have devastating consequences for the whole community, and putting a stop to the flow of drugs requires a whole-of-community response. “Crime Stoppers is committed to working with Victoria Police, the media and local residents to gather confidential information that can help to reduce drug supply and drug related crimes and help keep the community safe,” Mr Brown said. “Local residents often hold the key to information that can help reduce crime, and we are asking Warrnambool residents to play an active role and report those people that are bringing harmful drugs into the region.” “Making a report to Crime Stoppers is completely confidential. You will never be identified or called up for a court case, but every piece of information you provide can help solve crimes and reduce supply.” The Crime Stoppers Victoria Dob in a Dealer campaign is funded by the Victorian Government's Community Crime Prevention Program and run in collaboration with Victoria Police.
