Shelley Cox: Bead Embroidery Flower Brooch
Mandy Shaw describes herself as a 'maker of all things lovely' and she enjoys nothing more than sharing her skills and inspirations. She runs her business, Dandelion Designs, from her homemade home, where she has also written no fewer than six books! When she's not at home stitching, Mandy is travelling around the UK teaching and sharing her passion for stitchery and sewing. She has appeared on Kirsty Allsop’s TV shows, has contributed to two of Kirstie’s books and has a regular slot on Create & Craft TV.
Genevieve Brading is the creative force behind trendy needlework brand Floss & Mischief and a regular contributor to craft magazines. Having launched her company after arguing about taxidermy (long story!), she totally rocks the 'fauxdermy' trend and keeps putting a modern twist on needlework. Genevieve especially likes bitesize projects, like the one you’ll stitch with her here, which guarantee quick success and make stitching extra enjoyable.
Originally from New Zealand, Shelley Cox travelled widely before joining the Royal School of Needlework's Apprenticeship. After graduation, she worked for several years in the RSN Studio where she project managed prestigious commissions such as the Wells Cathedral altar frontals. Shelley left the RSN in 2001 to pursue a freelance career taking on embroidery commissions and teaching throughout the UK and USA. She teaches a variety of RSN Day Classes including beadwork and also tutors the RSN Certificate and Diploma Course.
Why redwork? Well, it’s simple – the colour is chosen for you, the stitches are easy and the results are stunning! In this fun workshop, you'll learn a variety of techniques to stitch Mandy's favourite embroidery motifs inspired by her sewing room. You'll also learn how to turn your work into a beautiful hanging heart to grace your home or give as a gift.
In this workshop you’ll fall in love with cross stitching onto evenweave. And who could blame you – the honeycomb patterned fabric you'll be using is adorable! With a guiding hand from Genevieve, you’ll also master how to frame your work in an embroidery hoop. This technique is super effective, and a cinch to achieve with the right know-how.

In this workshop you will create an eye-catching beaded flower using intricate techniques of bead embroidery. Learn how to master the French knot, Y formations, rosette stitch and couching and create a beautiful brooch that you can treasure forever.
Demonstration Introduction to Needle Felting with SewandSo’s own Emma Hall Needle felting is a traditional craft that is gaining in popularity. From cute creatures to jewellery to lampshades – this is a hugely diverse technique using cheap and readily available materials. In this interactive demonstration, you will have a go at shaping a ball of fibre and adding detail to create your own sweet little felted bird decoration. Armed with the essential skills, we’re pretty sure you will leave us well and truly hooked on this fun technique.
