CYTOLOGY WORKSHOP GUIDELINES ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC MEETING Overview The Cytology Workshops are microscopic and non‐microscopic sessions on various topics. A non‐microscopic workshop room is set as a didactic lecture style. The microscopic cytology workshop room is set with microscopes for each participant. Microscopic cytology workshops start with a brief lecture followed by cytology glass slide packet review. The duration of each workshop will be continuous 90 minutes (no break). A maximum of two faculty are permitted. It is suggested that speakers arrive in their room 30 minutes prior to the start of their session to check room set‐up and load their presentation. Speakers are expected to begin and end the session on time. Audience These sessions will be attended by pathologists, cytopathologists, cytotechnologists, students, and other members of the cytopathology community. Self‐Assessment Modules (SAMs) Cytology workshop speakers are required to provide SAMs questions. The American Board of Pathology audits questions for adequacy. Therefore, the Scientific Program Committee (SPC) asks presenters to write questions based on the criteria guidelines provided. Guidance for writing SAMs questions can be found on the ASC web site. As faculty, you agree to provide questions and make edits per feedback from the SPC, after review. If necessary, questions will be modified by the SPC to meet minimum adequacy criteria. SAMs consist of questions, answers, a brief explanation of the correct answer with a relevant reference(s) for attendee’s feedback. Questions must reference information provided in the handout. There should be at least five (5) questions per hour of instruction. For cytology workshops, a total of 8 (eight) questions should be submitted through the speaker portal. Electronic Handouts Pre‐meeting handouts for attendees are required. The ASC must provide handouts for sessions to be ACCME/ABP compliant. The ASC expects that the PowerPoint presentation will be converted into a 6‐slide per page PDF document. Handouts should be uploaded on the Speaker Portal so that they are available for download by attendees. PowerPoint Slides Speakers will be provided a PowerPoint template (in speaker's portal) that should be used for all Annual Scientific Meeting presentations. Please bring your PowerPoint file on a USB drive and load it on the provided PC laptop. Annual Scientific Meeting Cytology Workshop

Continuing Education Continuing Medical Education (CME) The American Society of Cytopathology is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. American Board of Pathology Maintenance of Certification (MOC) These workshops can fulfill the CME requirements and Self‐Assessment Modules (SAMs) mandated by the American Board of Pathology for Maintenance of Certification (MOC). Continuing Medical Laboratory Education (CMLE) The ASC designates these activities for the indicated number of Continuing Medical Laboratory Education (CMLE) credit hours. This program is approved for continuing education credits in the State of Florida and in the State of California. We welcome your expertise and want to ensure that your participation in the Annual Scientific Meeting is a successful experience.
