This Just In: Mrs. Tyndale’s first grade students recently had an Author’s Share where many of their family members joined them for an afternoon of narrative stories and refreshments.
HORNETHerald IN OTHER BREAKING NEWS…
PHYSICAL EDUCATION NEWS…
Each student here at the school had the opportunity to decorate the trees at the Newport Cultural Center with ornaments that they created themselves. We were invited in to enjoy a story after the decorating was complete. A big thank you to the Newport Cultural Center for welcoming us each year.
To kick off the school year, grades pre-k-1 are hard at work learning movement concepts such as space awareness, effort and relationships.
We’d also like to mention… Our students requested an opportunity to do something kind for others to help everyone enjoy the holiday season. We will be hosting a food drive from now until our concerts. Each student wishing to participate can bring in a nonperishable food item. The donations made by the prek-2 students will be stacked up at their concert on December 6 and the 3-4 grade students will be doing the same at their concert on December 12. Students are welcome to bring in the food item the day of the concert or any time before the concert.
Grades 2-4 are focusing their learning on the 5 components of physical fitness. These components include muscular endurance, muscular strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and body composition. Mr. King would like to send everyone a friendly reminder to dress for success! This includes wearing appropriate footwear and clothing for vigorous exercise.
At Newport/Plymouth Elementary School we are safe, responsible and respectful. If you see your child come home with a Hornet Hero sticker, please ask him/her how he/she earned it!
PBIS Update In the month of November, students will continue to work on being a stand-by’er. A standby’er is someone who speaks up for others who may be hurt, sad or upset.
